Have you stayed at the hotel that is attached to the Grand...

Did you like it? Is it noisy, smoky, or anything like that? Thank you in advance, for any thoughts/opinions you can give me about this hotel.

Have stayed there twice for family events. It is okay, nothing special; the smoking rooms were smoky, the non-smoking were fine. It was not noisy, the casino is in a seperate wing of the building. For adults the pool is fine, kids - no so much.

We've stayed there a few times. It's just like any other hotel. Like the other post said, it's away from the noise so you don't even realize you're at the casino. It's actually quiet and the rooms were pretty nice.

Thanks for the input Mikki and Nanders. We're planning a girls overnighter after shopping in the cities. It sounds like this will be an ok place to stay. Do you know have any restaurant recommendations for the area?

Thanks,

Here's a short review of our Hinckley MN, Grand Casino visit.

We arrived at the Grand Casino Hinckley Hotel in the early evening on 10/26/05. Check in was quick and painless. We (my sister and I) had a double queen room. I was very pleased with the room and hotel (and the price of $50 was a good value).

A friend picked us up and brought us to a pizza place in Hinckley...I forget the name. But it was some of the best pizza I have had in a long time. The restaurant was a little place on the main street in Hinckley... atmosphere wasn't much, but it was REALLY great food! We returned to the casino to try our luck. Well, I didn't do so hot, but I played for 4 hours (slots, vp, and blackjack) on $50. My sister had better luck and played the nickel slots and won a total of $80. I thought that the casino is pretty smoky and could use a little better ventilation system. I don't know if it's any more smoky than other local casinos, I'm just comparing it to Las Vegas casinos.

The shower in our room (on the 7th floor) was VERY weak. But I thought the bathroom was very spacious, lots of countertop space.

It seemed like most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. In the morning we checked out of our room with the tv on screen checkout. It was very easy and convienient.

There is some construction going on outside of the casino (they're adding on and making the hotel bigger). However ,we never noticed any noise in our room.

We did not eat at the hotel/casino, so I cannot comment on that.

Overall, I liked the hotel (great room for the price) and plan to stay there in June for a friends wedding in the area. I don't think I would make a special trip up there just for the gaming however.

We stayed there once and will never go back there again.. we thought we were going to get a room with a bedroom and there was none.. a bed pulled out of the wall.. the couch had a large white stain that had a stain that ran down the side of the couch. we called housekeeping and it took them over an hour and a half to get there. We also noticed a hunk of rubber stuck to one of the doors.. Housekeeping just flipped the pillow on the couch and just pulled the rubber off the wall.. it was sick thinking about it.. there was no more roome to change to.

I realize you already took your trip and I'm late adding this. But in case it is of interest to anyone going to Hinckley: Toby's Restaurant (right off the interstate) is very, very good! They're famous for their baked goods, especially their carmel rolls. But all their dinner items and their bread baskets are terrific! Great value! Don't miss it if you go to Hinckley. By the way their sign is HUGE you can't miss it from 35.
