Mall of America would be the top choice. You can get their by light rail.

Time Table:

otherwise, maybe get a taxi to visit St.Paul Cathedral or Walker Art Center. I think it may be a little rushed.

Mall of America would definitely be a choice. The train runs out of the airport and directly into the mall. Runs about every 10 minutes and from the airport about a 10 minute ride.

However, going the other direction you could take the train to Minnehaha Falls - a large park area and, as the name suggests, waterfall/nature area (www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp…).

Obviously dependent on weather but might be an alternative to consider. The main area also offers Sea Salt Restaurant area for a pleasant meal in the park area. Train would also be about 10 minutes from MSP to the 50th Street/Minnehaha Park Station (plus up to 10 minutes waiting for the next train).

In any case, be sure to keep in mind timeframe to make it back to the airport and back through security in time.

Depends on what you're looking for. As the others said, MOA for shopping. If you want to be outdoors, with some history, there is Fort Snelling very near by.

You can visit the Fort or hike the trails at the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Minnesota River.

Come visit the Minnehaha Falls and dine at Sea Salt Minneapolis. Google for directions and which light rail station to get off at. It's very near airport.

If the weather is nice take the train (light rail) to the 50th Street/Minnehaha park stop. It's only takes about 10 minutes. The park is just across the streets. You can eat at Sea Salt, view the falls, and/or take a walk.

Other light rail options are to take it into downtown Mpls. From the Downtown East/Metrodome stop you can talk to the Stone Arch Bridge over the Mississippi. Or take it to the Nicollet Mall stop and there are many places for a meal and/or drinks.

Enjoy your trip!
