Hi:

Are there any hotels within walking distance of the Excel Center?

Thanks

There's a Holiday Inn, which is very close. There's also the Crowne Plaza a few blocks away.

The two closest are the above mentioned Holiday Inn Express, which is kttty-corner across West 7th and The St Paul hotel, which is a short walk across Rice Park (and one can get there via skyway/tunnel too) from the X.

The Crowne Plaza s & Hilton Garden Inn are probably 4-5 blocks from the X and both of these would also be accessible via the skyway system.

In my humble opinion there is more action before/after games or events along West 7th, near the Holiday Inn.

Can;t really add much other than to say that the Holiday Inn is the best option if rooms are available for an Xcel Energy Center event. It also has my favorite hotel bar in the Twin Cities, the Liffey.

If you go to the Liffey try the "bangers and mash", sausage and mashed potatoes.

Thanks everyone. All the larger hotels were full, so we booked a room at the Hotel 340. Hope there are places to walk and eat from there? We do want to be within walking distance of the Excel.

You will be within walking distance of the Xcel Center to 340, plus there will be eating establishments. Frankly, you could even walk to the Liffey or Cosetta's (which are opposite direction of your hotel by a block or so) while still being within walking distance of your hotel. I suspect you'll be fine (though the Holiday Inn is literally across the street from the Xcel Center).
