Fall color in Branson?

We've never been to Branson but are considering making a trip in the next month or two. When does the fall color peak in the area and what are the best drives to view the color?

The first week in October is the best time to see the fall color here. The second week is still usually pretty though. I really like Dogwood Canyon, and that place is very pretty in the fall. It's about 30 minutes from Branson, but it's really pretty and there are walking and biking trails, horseback riding, fishing and a gorgeous tram ride that goes into their wild animal park where the animals (elk, deer, bison, etc...) come right up to the tram to feed.

The drive down to Excelsior Springs, AR is also very pretty during the fall time.

Fall color does depend on how wet or dry the year has been as well as temperature changes. I live in north central AR and go to Branson frequently. In some years the fall color has been more in mid to late October. The state of AR and MO generally has fall color updates on their tourism websites.

If I remember correctly the MO Conservation Department has a fall colors report in the fall which tells when/where the colors are turning. Here is their link:
