Places to stay

Thanks for the advice about Christmas shows. Now, could you please give me some advice about where to stay at the end of Nov. We want to be close to the action but not actually in it. We want a place with good beds, good breakfast, clean and a general pleasant feel. Any place like that come to mind???

We like staying at Best Western Music Capital Inn on the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. We found it to be easy to get around Branson from there. It is comfortable, clean, has a decent breakfast and the people there have always been very friendly and helpful. You can buy your show tickets there, too. We don't recommend staying at the Best Western Landing View.

Have fun!

A large portion of the hotels in Branson have outside entrances. Some of the rooms require you to climb a lot of stairs and walking a long distance from your car. If either of these things are a problem for you, make sure you know before you make a reservation. There are hotels in Branson that don't have outside entrances. Also, they have an elevator.

The motels owned/operated by Meyer (several Comfort Inns and Holiday Inn Express) generally get rave reviews on the 1branson.com board. Several folks on that board also recommend the Clarion. How much money do you want to spend? There are decent mom and pop places from $40 a night and you can spend a couple of hundred a night if you want to stay at the Chateau or in a suite at the Hilton Convention Center.

Our favorite hotel is Savannah House. Not on the 76 Strip, but close enough that you won't spend a lot of time getting to the attractions. Cobbler and ice cream in the evenings, a decent hot breakfast with a large dining area in which to eat. Prices are moderate and the hotel is a very good value. Whispering Hills and Branson's Best also are in the same 'chain' and have the same ammenities. Locations are good for both of those also. If you want to be on the 'Strip", try Lodge of the Ozarks. They have a lounge, an indoor large pool, a restaurant, and within walking distances of several shows, restaurants, attractions.
