travelling to Branson Missouri from the UK.

We are planning a trip to Branson Missouri for next October. The flights all seem to involve at least one change which makes the trip quite long and complicated with mostly a late arrival in Springfield, still a journey from Branson. Does any one know about flights straight into the new Branson Airport and how they connect with International flights?

Branson is small town with a small airport. There are only three airlines serving Branson, AirTran (www.airtran.com), Frontier Airlines (www.frontierairllines.com), and Branson Air Express (www.bransonairexpress.com) with very limited service.

BTW, from the Springfield, MO airport it is just over 84 kilometers and about a one hour drive to Branson, MO.

If you can arrange to fly into Atlanta from the UK you can connect on AirTran non-stop into the Branson airport.

Like previous posters mentioned, Branson airport (BKG) has limited service and rental car resources.

AirTran's currently scheduled afternoon flight might work for your connection via ATL but it is doubtful. They only have two flights in and one flight out. The morning return out of BKG will likely not allow you to connect via ATL back to the UK meaning a night in ATL.

Best bet is to go through Springfield (SGF), spend the night then rent a car for the short drive to Branson. Your price point for a rental will be much better as will your options flying in and out of SGF to make your international connections.

I have flown out of SGF many times to Europe via Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas with a decent selection of flights and no problems making connections. Look at American, Delta and United from the UK if available.

Another option would be a flight into either Orlando or Tampa, FL and then take Allegiant direct to SGF or even XNA (Bentonville/Fayetteville, Arkansas). and drive north to Branson. Not ideal but an alternative and probably at a lower cost.

I’m also concerned about the limited flights coming in and out of Branson’s airport. My worry is if your flight is delayed and you don’t make your connecting flight to Branson, you may have to wait more than a day to catch the next flight. This may even be the case coming into the Springfield airport but not as likely. Be sure and check your connecting flight options if you miss the scheduled flight before you book your airlines. If you more options, Kansas City’s airport is about a 3 ½ - 4 hour drive. It is a lot father but with the distance you are traveling you could plan a night to recover from your long flight and time changes by spending a night in a KC hotel room. Then drive the following day to Branson. It is all 4 lane highway or Interstate.

BTW, flying into Springfield versus Branson/Hollister airport will save you only 20 – 40 minutes driving time, depending on where you are staying. The Branson area is spread out so driving time varies. Most places in Branson offer a 4 PM check in. If you arrive earlier in the day you probably will not be able to check in until after 4.

Would you mind sharing with us how you heard about Branson MO?

Another alternative is Tulsa, OK (TUL). It is a straight shot on Interstate 44 to either Hwy 71 South and then cut across east or continue on I-44 to SGF. It is far more convenient and closer than Kansas City (MCI) although KC will have more flights scheduled.

TUL has many daily flights to Dallas and DFW is an international hub. TUL will also have several flights daily to ATL.

There is no comparison between Branson's scheduled flights and those out of Springfield in terms of variety and quantity. BKG is a cowtown compared to SGF...
