looking for something different-no shows, no SDC

This is our third trip to the Branson area. We will be staying at Big Cedar May 18-22. We've had our fill of shows, SDC, minigolf and are looking for some help in finding something new to do. We have already planned horseback riding, Dogwood Canyon, and Zip Line Tour. Can anyone suggest something else? Open to anything...please help! Thanks.

There are several caves in the area - Fantastic Caverns is the drive-thru cave near Springfield. And then there's Talking Rocks Caverns in Branson West and a few just south in Arkansas.

There's also the Medieval Castle in AR - about 30 minutes away from Branson. Their page is here: www.ozarkmedievalfortress.com I really recommend it! It's not complete yet (won't be until 2030 - they're using ONLY the machines and technology available in the 13th century), but it's very interesting to see how they're building it, and you get to watch the tradesmen and women do their trades right there in front of you. Many of them will let YOU do some of the work as well (cutting rocks, etc...) if you want to. Very neat. I definitely recommend.

Of course there are all of the museums - Titanic, Princess Diana, Veteran's, Ripley's, etc... But if you've been to Branson before, then you probably know about all of those.

That's all I can think of right now that's "out of the box," but still close to Branson, but not your typical BRANSON attraction. Hope that helps! :)

Check with the State Park Marina for parasailing. They also have cruises out on a big sailboat. Drive an hour south of Branson and go to Eureka Springs -- neat town. There's also a large wildlife sanctuary near there -- Turpentine Creek. Hike in the Henning Conservation center on west 76 or in the Buseick State Forest north of town on 65.

If you'll be in Springfield, check out the Bass Pro Shop. It is the grand daddy of them all since it is their first store. Other cruises can be found on Taneycomo at Branson Landing Cruises or go farther down for kayaking on Taneycomo. At the State Marina you can also sign up for scuba diving too. Table Rock Dam has tours. Don't forget the old standbys, fishing, golf, mini golf, helicopter rides, laser tag, shopping, Ride the Ducks, and tour College of the Ozarks.

thanks everyone! I think the Lake Queen cruise, Turpentine Creek, and maybe a drive down to Eureka Springs should round out our trip nicely. Thanks again.

We love Big Cedar Wilderness resort and Dogwood Canyon. // Our favorite attraction right in Branson is the Titanic attraction (a great little diversion -- takes about two hours to do) // Very well done and even those in our party who aren't that interested in the Titanic found it interesting and enjoyable.
