We've always thought Mel's Hard Luck Diner at the Grand Village is fun. They already have talented wait staff that sings. When they sing Happy Birthday it really sounds good.

As far as an attraction.....

If he wants a thrill….try Zip Lines or the swing called the called a “Sky Coaster” at one of the Branson Tracks. For something tamer he can play the G force simulator.

Be a kid again... ride go carts. They have a new steel high rise course at the Branson Tracks if he’s up to it. If grand kids are along, try adults against the kids playing Laser Tag.

Enjoy the outdoors….go swimming, golfing, mini golf, hike or fish.

Take in nature’s beauty….head down to Dogwood Canyon.

Shopping…. take him to the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. He'll love shopping there.

Shows……all types of music, comedy, live theater, circus, magic, animal, aerial acts, variety shows, dinner shows or show cruise.

Want a view…. take a helicopter ride.

To feel old…. head to the Toy Museum and see what they call antiques. He'll remember playing with many of them.

Need a memory… have his photo taken in the large gorilla's hand at the Wax Museum. Or make him stand under the 43’ giant rooster for a fun photo.

All day fun….head to Silver Dollar City.

Party a little… Waxy’s O’Sheas or the Ernie Biggs Dueling Piano Bar at the Landing.

Water fun… State Park Marina to para sail, scuba diving, skiing, or rent a boat/pontoon. Hit Branson Kayaking for a trip down Lake Taneycomo.

Water relaxation…. Take a boat ride at the Landing or ride the Spirit at the State Park marina.

I agree with all the previous poster said. Excellent suggestions.

Mel's is a great place for a birthday song (and definately get the banana split to celebrate - but beware, it will easily feed 4 people!)

If you want a really nice place to dine, try Dobyn's Restaurant at the Keeter Center at the College of the Ozarks. Excellent service by the students there, and the food is absolutely delicious! While at the college tour their museum (very impressive - they have the Beverly Hillbillies car there!), and tour their dairy, mill, etc. Also, Moon River Grill at Andy Williams theater is a really nice quiet place to dine and has good food and service.

Kayaking down Taneycomo, as the previous poster said, is very relaxing and beautiful, especially on these hot, hot days. The water in Taneycomo is a steady 42 degrees year round, and it feels like air-conditioning when the breeze blows across the lake! We've done this many times (we're in our early 50's) and our adult kids love it too.

A couple of don't miss shows are the Haygoods and SIX. Your Dad would probably love both of them!

Shepherd of the Hills outdoor drama is something great, if you want a different kind of show. It's a story of the beginning of Branson. Very entertaining.

Putt-putt at night is a great way to end a day. Their are many courses to choose from!

Have fun!
