Jesse James Farm

I am visiting Kansas City in July of this year 2010 and I am interested in visiting the Jesse James Farm. I am unable to find how to get there using some form of public transport.

I would be happy to find out how I can get to Kearney from Kansas City and then I could walk from there to the farm or if there was some organised trip I could join.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no public transportation available from KC to Kearney other than hiring a taxi, which would be quite expensive. You might consider contacting the Jesse James Farm and Museum directly for their transportation suggestions. http://www.jessejames.org

There is a hotel at Kearney, and I'm sure some locals would enjoy giving you a tour of the town and the Jesse James historic sites. His grave is in a cemetery right in town.

You might consider contacting the local newspaper, the Kearney Courier, to see if they might be able to help you also. http://kearneycourier.com

David,

The midwest is not like the east and has a lot less public transportation. Would you consider renting/hiring a car? You would make good use of one, and the roads would not be challenging between Kansas City and Kearney. In fact, it would be pretty straightforward. Just something to consider.
