STL trip june 29th -july 1st HELP

Coming down from des moines, iowa with my girlfriend who recently turned 21. I've been down the past two summers for cards games since ive been a fan from day one. This year im looking for places near the stadium for pre and post game beers. We're going to the friday night game. I've looked into the outfield at mike shannons, paddy o's, and al hraboskys. Any opinions on those places? I'm also interested in suggestions on what to do saturday seeing we have the whole day free along with sunday morninng. i have many things on my to do list and wouldnt mind some help making it a bit smaller. were staying at the casino queen because of livingsocial deal, we will have a car so distance is not a problem.

things im interested in experiencing..

Ted drewes custard

PW Pizza

five guys burgers popular down there? been once in omaha and i enjoyed

Laclede's Landing-saturday night?

The hill

Anheuser-Busch tour

the arch again...

city museum- girlfriend might not enjoy?

or any other gem that i dont know about.

also is there a place other than the arch with an amazing view of the city?

I hope someone is able to help me make this an awesome trip for the both of us and will help me look like i know what im doing there.

If you want to impress your gf, take her to 360 before the game. It's on the roof of the Ballpark Hilton and overlooks the stadium. The cost per drink isn't a lot more, if any, but the view is incredible. This also answers your other question about views. Another great spot for a view of the city is to walk halfway across the Eads bridge. Thirdly, the patio at the Four Seasons has a great view (pricey drinks for the atmosphere, but worth it, I say).

The City Museum is great for people your age. Go on Saturday night (much more fun than the Landing). It's open until 1 AM and there are at least a couple of bars.

You might want to visit the Hill for Sat. lunch. Adriana's is our favorite, Gioia's is also good. Maybe walk down to Viviano's grocery after or better yet, Missouri Baking for dessert. Another alternative: There are some great Mexican restaurants on Cherokee Street. Third choice: Walk around the Delmar Loop, maybe lunch at Blueberry Hill or Three Kings.

For Sunday breakfast, try the Mud House on Cherokee or Cafe Madeleine in Tower Grove Park.

Forgot to add: I do vote in favor of PW Pizza and Ted Drewes if the schedule allows. Laclede's Landing attrracts a young and heavy drinking crowd. Since you're young, you might love it.

We do have Five Guys, but there are so many local alternatives, I just can't recommend it.

go to the 4 seasons hotel- it's right at Lacledes landing. Go up to the 8th floor- to the swimming pool, restaurant , bar area. It's a great view and a nice

place to have drinks. The tiles in the pool are red and it's pretty neat to see.

it's called the Cielo restaurant

Sounds like a great plan! You might want to go out on Washington Ave that is the most popular area I feel right now. The Brewery is a great idea especially since your gf just turned 21! 5 guys is out farther in the suburbs, not that exciting for a drive. I am around your girlfriend's age and I can't stand City Museum partly because I went when I was older and I'm really not one for climbing through tunnles, etc. I would really ask her before you guys go! Have a fun trip!!!

The Casino Queen is safe - tons of security. I"m not saying it's classy...

I do think there are a couple of places to buy St. Louis Cardinals and other souvenir type stuff at Union Station. Not sure of the pricing, but I am sure the people there would appreciate the business, as that mall is all but dead, awaiting redevelopment - see this article for more info:

stltoday.com/business/local/union-station-sa…

Since you'll be back, it might be fun to get a "before" look.

Don't go to Laclede's Landing, instead, head to Soulard. It will be much more enjoyable, in my opinion.

Also, Shannon's Outfield will be a good place for after game beers.....Mike Shannon's restaurant is upscale, but the "Outfield" area is not. Paddy O's is a lot of fun, as well.

Also, as far as I know, Al Hrabosky's has been closed.

360 is a great choice. Five Guys is way overrated, IMO. I think all ages enjoy the City Museum. Very cool place.

I would suggest Crown Candy Kitchen, also. It has been featured on Travel Channel's Man vs. Food. The BLT is unbelievable, the best one you will ever have. Their malts and shakes are fantastic, too. Go during the day. Surrounding area is not the best, but totally safe during the day.

Just to put my 2 cents in, 360 during the afternoon game, Paddy O's or Shannons Outfield after the game are both a great time. You just cant go wrong. As for Cardinals gear, unless you go to like Target or Wal Mart you are paying basically the same price everywhere. The store at Union Station is just a satellite of the store at the stadium.

For another night, Washington Ave between 9th & 15th would be a great time. Im in my early 30's and have been hanging out there since my mid-20's. Plenty of different atmospheres to choose from. You will love it on a Sat night. It really gets bumping about 10-10:30 straight on through close.

As for other items you listed, PW is a good choice, Ted Drews is a must and City Museum will be fun. A restaurant we just went to this past weekend 2 blocks off Washington and 11th on Locust is the Bridge. We didnt eat there, but went there due to their beer and wine selection. They are a tap house and wine bar mainly and the beers on tap are over 50 and they serve them in 4, 12, 22, & 46 oz glasses. I loved it cause I was able to get 8 different beers in the 4 oz servings and try a ton of beers I have been curious about. If you need anymore help let us know!
