One day arch and gardens please help

I have a few questions.

We will be in downtown St. Louis one day and are very interested in the gardens and the arch.

We want to definitely do

-The Arch

- City Garden

- Missouri botanical Garden

Questions

#1. How is the best way to get around from and to these places and where should we park ?

#2 Is there any other gardens we would be missing or any free places we should add to our day?

#3. .Is there anything a first timer should know?

I would buy your tickets online for the Arch for the first tram of the day. Start there and you'll face less lines and waiting, so you can make the best of your day. You get free parking adjacent to the Arch grounds if you buy online. After the Arch, stroll down to City Garden. It isn't a huge thing to see. Grab lunch there - at a food truck or local restaurant. Then head back to your car and drive to the Garden and enjoy the afternoon there. Sounds like a great day.

Other free things to consider: Budweiser Brewery Tour, Grant's Farm (pay for parking but the park is free), Forest Park (zoo, art museum, history museum all free). If it's rainy or unbearably hot that gives you a few indoor options.

Absolutely eat at the new restaurant at Citygarden, called Death in the Afternoon. It's a Hemingway inspired place. Beautiful and tasty! The Botanical Garden is one of the very best in the US.

Be aware that there is major highway disruption through downtown near the arch because of work on the arch. What route are you taking into St. Louis? If you have access to a St. Louis city map you might plot a detour. If you are arriving early in the day I'd suggest starting at the botanical garden to enjoy it before the day heats up. Then go to that restaurant in City Garden for lunch-plenty of parking in garages near the stadium then walk to the Arch. Which ever plan you choose, have fun.
