Dog Friendly Cabin(s) or Vacation Home for one week Sept2009

WANT: Dog friendly (four dogs) one (or two) cabin(s) or vacation home with family room/kitchen and at least one bedroom on ground floor.

For Sept 2009, my family of 6-8 (all adults) with FOUR dogs, is trying to find a place in West Yellowstone that will accept dogs.

We would like at two cabins (or one house) that will house two dogs in each cabin. The dogs are excellent travelers; we all just got done with a second annual stay at cabins on a beach at Turtle Cove in Gold Beach, OR. They will give us a recommendation.

Any other ideas? Additionally, we'll book at least two trips with tour buses....that....need to take our dogs as we won't leave them in the cabins. We know we can book a bus and driver and that should take care of the dog situation there (I hope).

Any info on dogs with people lodging would be appreciated.

Try www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) or google "vacation rentals" and you will find an abundance of privately owned vacation homes described on numerous websites. Many will accept dogs. 4 dogs....now that's another question.

You might also contact the local Chamber of Commerce for any doggy day care facilities. We have one here in Kalispell that is wonderful, Lucky Dog Daycare. However, you need to fill out an application including vet and shot records, and even have an interview before they will accept your dog.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion Riverdays. Four dogs, that's why we want two cabins. Plus, two of us with two dogs would rather have some space from the younger and busier others (ggg). Three of the dogs are 50 - 8 lbs. One at about 100. All are travel proofed. The largest dog is actually owned by the only person in our group that walks with a cane.

Traveling with pets is not hard but finding a place that is nice and accepts pets is. I'll check out your VRBO suggestions. It is much appreciated.

Will you be hiking, sight-seeing from the car? Going just to Yellowstone? You probably know that you won't be able to hike with your dogs in the park. Would you consider staying at the NE Entrance at Cooke City? Lots of great hikes along the Beartooth Highway where dogs are welcome.

Here is a link to lodging pages on the West Yellowstone Chamber website. There are listings for cabins and vacation homes. There are also some hotels/motels that take pets in West.
