Getting to Whitefish from Canada

Which route would be preferred when coming from Alberta.

Option 1: Enter MT via Route93 and follow it to Whitefish - (230miles)

Option 2: Enter MT on Route89 and go through Browning taking Route2 through GNP to Whitefish (210-220 miles depending on which exact roads we would take in Canada)

Option 3: Enter MT on I-15 then take Route2 to browning and through GNP. (250 miles)

Option 4: An alternate route someone can suggest?

What are the 3 Route/Highways like coming into Montana? Are any of them double lane or are most just single lane?

Thanks in advance.

I came the 93 route last summer through Fernie and then down. 2-lane but very fast route. Coming in east of Glacier and then across GTTS is much slower and much more scenic, and you have the park entrance fee to pay. Coming via Browning (there is a shortcut prior to Browning) and around hwy 2 has some scenery but also adds miles.

Sounds like you really are not much interested in the park?

If that shortcut road hasn't been seriously patched, go all the way to Browning on 89. I think you might save time and your cars suspension and alignment will thank you.

Not sure what you're looking for in a particular route, but I think Option 1 would probably have the best scenery.

Option one for certain. Browning is very depressing. It's like something out of some horrible movie. No trees, no grass. Poverty.Awful. Very sad and shameful indian reservation.

If you want to make time you can take the interstate. And then west, not sure of the highway#. If your coming from Sk. Take the Buffalo trail south. Get to Taber and go south through McGrath. Couple options from there.

Going through Browning isn't so bad.
