Incline Village vs Kings Beach Vs Tahoe City

We are travelling to Lake Tahoe from the UK in August and are trying to decide where the best place to base ourselves for a week with 5 children (5-10 years) and 5 adults (2 elderly). We would like to be close to the lake with lots of activities for the kids and we do not mind driving a little as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would say renting a house in Incline Village is your best bet for keeping young children occupied. There are two private beaches in Incline that your landlord should offer access to. Both have grassy barbecue areas, playgrounds, snack bars, cocktail service, and equipment rental (kayaks, etc). Of these two, Burnt Cedar Beach also has a beautiful outdoor pool right on the lake with kiddie pool, slide, etc. The other, Incline Beach, offers boat and jet ski rentals. Although Incline isn't super walkable, there are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores all within close proximity of one another. The Hyatt is also located in Incline and has a beautiful spa facility. If you take a break from the beach one day, the other two towns you mention are a very close drive, as is Truckee, which has a great downtown. The villages at Northstar and Squaw Valley have fun summertime activities too; music, festivals, outdoor movies, gondola rides. Your coming at the perfect time of year!

Any of the three would work for you. Incline Village is a good choice. It is an upscale community and you can catch a shuttle bus to Sand Harbor. Kings Beach has a very nice public beach area with parking and you can rent lake toys to use on the Lake. Tahoe City is the largest town and has more shopping and dining choices.

Hello, i live in Incline village, and for renting I would recommend it. King's Beach is more populated on summer due to public beaches, but you may get access to IV's private beaches from your landlord. If you need a baby sitter for the 5 children let me know.

You may also consider the California side of South Lake. There are any number of hotels and condominiums all with easy beach access, restaurants galore. Boat rentals, SkiDoo rentals, etc. Not quite as upscale as Incline but far more beach than Kings Beach.

Try checking out the private homes or condo's to rent in Incline Village. It's such a pleasant place to walk around, or ride bikes among the trees, less summer traffic. If you are located in several blocks near the Hyatt, you'll have a number of restaurants to choose from and walk to. Of course there are other shops and restaurants on the main road by Raley's Grocery Store Center.

Our favorite beach, Sand Harbor is located just a couple miles from Incline. You catch the shuttle bus from the school parking lot to take you into SH

Are there areas to ride ATVs in the Lake Tahoe area?

Trina, this topic is almost a year old and not related to what you are asking. You might want to start your topic and ask in the Lake Tahoe (California) forum too.
