Squaw Valley for Thanksiving - any snow?

Hello to all:

We have a 5-yr old son and we are hoping to teach him to ski this winter. We are not that familiar with Lake Tahoe skiing, as we went a couple of times to Snowbird by Salt Lake City. We are intermediate skiers but we love the whole winter atmosphere and the festive feeling it brings :)

We are looking for the "winter wonderland" scene with a village (and lots of activities besides skiing only), so several friends recommended Squaw Valley.

I have been researching but I have not been able to find out when does the season start in Squaw Valley. We are looking at the week of Nov. 23-30.

Is Squaw Valley high enough that it will be under snow at that time, as Snowbird is?

Any other suggestions for a family with kinergartner?

Thank you.

The resorts around Lake Tahoe are able to make snow so that most years there is at least some limited skiing at Thanksgiving. It's usually not really great conditions but so many people are ready to ski/ride at Thanksgiving break that the resorts do all they can to provide at least some skiing. Tahoe doesn't really turn into a winter wonderland until about January. Though we all pray for early snow, and are very excited when that comes in Decemeber, we know it's not all that reliable before January.

Squaw Valley is a good choice fo rwhat you want to do. Squaw has a good snow making operation as well.
