Favorite Lounges for listening and dancing - No Cover

We are coming out the week March 18, and are looking for a place to relax and listern to some music (60's thru 80's) in a lounge with a nice ambiance, that has NO cover charge. May do a little dancing.

What are your favorite easy listening lounges and lounge acts?

DW does not drink, so can she just nurse a Coke while we are there instead??

We like the lounge in Ballys. Usually some pretty good bands in there. Doesnt get started though till later in the evening. Im guessing 10 which is usually about the time we are getting ready to go out anyway.

Venetian has a great lounge too, La Scena Lounge, on the casino floor . No drink minimum that I know of.

Fontana at Bellagio. Great bands, view of fountains.

My honey and I love to go dancing at the Vegas lounges. Go in, sit down, order drinks - relax - enjoy the music and dance. We love it.

Some info about the three already mentioned -

1. Indigo at Bally's has some very good bands, but the floor gets really packed, if you need room to dance, you might check it out earlier in the evening.

2. Fontana at the Bellagio - very nice floor and good bands, if you go later in the evening, after 11, be prepared to wait half an hour or more. Bands start playing there at 5:30. Also, I gather that it closes down a fair amount for poker tournaments - hope that doesn't happen for you, or us, we'll be there in early April.

3. La Scena at the Venetian - very nice floor. We would go in the late afternoons to catch the Coasters - excellent dance music, small, but nice floor and not too crowded. However, we called the hotel about a month ago and were told that La Scena was closed and they didn't know what would happen to it. Apparently something to do with the new non-smoking laws and areas where food is served. Oh well.

Some other options to try out:

4. J-Pop at Mandalay Bay - this used to be called the Coral Reef Lounge - nice floor, good bands (when they weren't too rock). We have been to this lounge many times and liked it very much - but haven't been since the name changed - don't know what else might have changed.

5. Lounge in casino at Paris - small floor, OK bands. Not the best, but will do in a pinch.

6. Poly Esthers at Stratosphere - this is opening up in March (I think) and it appears that they will have 4 rooms featuring music from the 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's. Of the lounges I've mentioned, this is the only one that doesn't have live music.

There are also othe options off the strip - and others that elude me at the moment, but I hope you find this helpful.

In response to your question about drinking - neither of us drink and we always feel perfectly comfortable ordiering soft drinks. No problem there. The fontana probably has the best ambiance, next is LaScena and after that they are perfectly nice.

The lounge in Bally's casino! Last year my nieces were only 20 so nightlife was limited to say the least. but we found you can walk right onto the dance floor from the casino so that's how we got around the age limit. We just wanted to dance, drank enough in our rooms previous! It was crowded but polite and we boggied there to our heart's content without hassle. We are EXCITED to the max that this year's trip in August they will be 21 - watch out Vegas...here we come.
