Recent Aladdin Visitors - ???

Anyone been to Aladdin /PH lately?

Any report on the Mezzanine level. Website shows a deli-style food shop and that's it.

I'm hoping they are getting ready for MM crowd! TV's betting stations, BAR!

Thanks

weljef: I'm curious as to what is going on also. A few weeks ago a woman reported that the 24 hour restaurant was closed for 6 weeks, the lobby was finished and that casino renovations were complete. I have posted on this subject and only get replies from January or earlier. Several people have promised trip reports, but there are very few new trip reports and reviews concerning the Aladdin. Particularly concerned with Zanzibar Cafe being closed as I am not one to walk to another hotel when I want to eat breakfast lol.

Just back and will post a trip report later. However, I can answer a few of your questions.

Restaurants: Zanzibar is closed. You can get breakfast at Starbucks (open 24 hours) just off the casino, PF Changs which was offering an American Breakfast, the Spice Market Buffet, the snack shop (pretty pitiful snack "cart" - a joke) located on the Mezannine level, or one of the many restaurants in Desert Passage. Desert Passage has breakfast offered at Cheeseburger Las Vegas and La Salsa Cantina (our favorite) to name a few.

Sports Book - still very makeshift and beyond pitiful. Do yourself a favor and head across the street to the Bellagio. All it had were small TV's on the wall and a few "card tables" with chairs. Not a place to spend much time in, IMO.

Construction - still going on - mostly concentrated on the outside of the casino. They are stripping off the stucco "Arabian" exterior and have just removed the dome above the Aladdin sign. SOme eares have a newer more squared look which I'm assuming is part of the new marquis and exterior look. The casino looks fabulous, IMO, much more modern, I like the changes they have made. The casino was still partially under construction (the area right at the front by PF Changs was empty/walled off. Getting in from Las Vegas Boulevard is tricky - the southern entrace still has access from Desert Passage as before. The northern entrace is no longer - it's behind a temporary construction wall. To access from the north you have to go in the Desert Passage north entrace and wind around to the entrance neat the Aladdin Theater. This didn't bother us as we knew our way around the Aladdin already and the walk through the Desert Passage was much shorter than the walks we've experienced in other Vegas casinos. The new lobby/check-in area was lovely right off the taxi/valet drop off which was convenient upon arrival. The north and south elevatoprs are both right off the check-in area too. No notable changes in the rooms yet, just some movie pictures and memorabilia. I'm assuming from the changes in the rest of the casino that the rooms will be renovated at some point to reflect the new darker more chic decor.

If you have any other questions I'd be happy to help :)

I'm not sure if they plan to repoen it at all. The area where it used to be is walled off and they have no indications that they plan to repon. Right now, your guess is as good as mine.

laurasue: Thanks for the information on the Aladdin; looking forward to reading your entire trip report. If you remember, is PF Changs open 24 hours to take up the slack from Zanzibar being closed? Are La Salsa Cantina and Cheeseburger in Paradise taking room charges from the Aladdin?Hope you had a great time and get typing lol. Love to read trip reports that are about the Aladdin lol.

Absolutey and I agree with your assessment plus it's a nice alternative to the breakfast buffets, which I love btw.
