We used some of our reward points to get travel award tickets, so our flights were limited. We ended up taking the 5:55 flight out of ORD and got the upgrade to first class. That was the day we had ice and snow here in Chicago. O’Hare was a mess! Flights were cancelled and late. After a huge wait through security we get to our gate. Nothing but shoulder to shoulder people, it was horrible and our flight was delayed. After standing in the crowd for about 40 minutes, they finally started boarding. We ended up sitting in the aircraft for another 40 minutes while they de-iced the plane. First class was nothing too special. We had the very first row so we couldn't really stretch our legs out because of the bulkhead. The food was gross, but we did have the video screen right in front of us.
Landed in Vegas about 8:20pm. Got our bags and checked in at the airport. Only two people ahead of us so check in was quick. We had two nights comped in the GO room and our third night we were moving to Harrah's for a rewards member rate of $49. Taxi line went rather fast, got to Flamingo for about $16. Went right up to room 25046. The GO Rooms are very nice. The only thing I Didn't like about the GO Rooms is the glass walls around the bathroom. Even though they are frosted, it's still kind of creepy. However, the bathroom was awesome with its pink lights, TV in mirror, and bowl sink on marble counter top. The floor was kind of dirty and the shower was not too clean either. Not horrible but it didn't look cleaned within the last few days. The rest of the room was clean, roomy, and comfortable. The huge plasma TV was great. We had a great view of the Bellagio fountains when we used the automatic drapes! Those were pretty cool, a little tacky, but fun. At the end of this report I will leave a link to photo's from this trip which include GO room pics.
We were really beat from the delays at O’Hare so decided to just get room service, then get to sleep early. Room service food was excellent. The prices weren't that horrible, about $8 for a huge cheeseburger and fries. It was excellent food and got the pretty fast.
We got up early the next day ready to hit the town.
We went over to Harrah's, played some slots and video poker. Lost money. However, we did get a free Harrah’s shirt after getting 25 base points on the card. Walked through Carnival Court, checked out Vince Neil’s tat shop, then back to the Flamingo. Played some slots there for quite awhile. Won a little, lost it. Later we went back to the room to freshen up then headed over to the Luxor.
We grabbed a cab to get there, cost us about $11 probably could've just walked it as we did walk back. Went over to the Criss Angel production offices, took some pics, bought some stuff at the store. Walked around the hotel and casino a bit, played some slots. Made our way to the tram, and went over to Mandalay Bay.
Played slots for awhile, then decided to check out Shark Reef. Cost was $31.00 for two people! Yikes! As soon as you walk in these people take your picture, you can buy it at the end for $24 and up. The Reef was pretty cool. Saw a croc, sharks, stingrays, pirahana's, jellyfish, eel's, Asian monitor, and all kinds of sea creatures. Not sure it was worth the $31 but it was interesting.
After that we went outside to have a smoke while we were waiting for our pictures, and the Lowe's convention was there. Some guys from Lowe's were telling us Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson were inside. My husband is a big NASCAR fan so we walked around to see if we could find them. We didn't see them so played some slots for awhile. Then hopped on the tram to Excalibur.
We walked through Excalibur, and New York New York. It was pretty crowded so we just kept walking. We slowly started making our way back to the Flamingo. Stopped at the Harley Davidson Cafe and picked up some t-shirts. Got back to the Flamingo, dropped off our bags, then walked over to Bally's. Played some slots there and had fun. I won $200 on the Zodiac video machine, but ended up losing it by the end of the night. After losing, we went into Barbary Coast. It was about ten minutes before they closed for good. All the slots were closed and not many people in there. We tried to get some last sets of matches, but they were not Barbary matches. Everyone clapped at 1am when it closed, and we headed back to the Flamingo where we played some slots some more, then headed up to the room and went to sleep.
Weds. woke up, packed our stuff up because we had to check out and move over to Harrah’s. We tried to get the GO room one more night so we didn't have to move, but the cheapest they would give it to us was $170. We went to Harrah’s for $49. Kind of a small room facing the parking garage. However, it was our last night and we weren't going to be in it much anyway. Ordered room service, which was good, and got ready to head out.
We wanted to check out the Palms. For some stupid reason, I thought it was down by the Wynn, off of one of those streets. So we walked all the way down to the Stardust, to get some last pictures of the now gutted out hotel. It was sad to see as we had just been there last year at this time. It was really cold out and the wind was blowing so hard, but we didn't want to miss out on anything as it was our last full day already. Found out the Palms is right down Flamingo rd. So we headed back that way and got to the corner where we could see it. I don't know what we were thinking but we decided to walk it! Don’t forget, we just walked to the Stardust from Harrah’s! WOW that was the longest I've ever walked in my life lol! Not to mention it was freezing with nasty winds. We walked past the RIO then crossed the street over to the Palms! We were exhausted! LOL
Went and checked out Hart and Huntington Tattoo, took a few pics and several of the people in the show were in there. Played some slots, walked around a bit and got a cab! I wasn't too impressed with the place and we couldn't find a cocktail waitress anywhere. So we went back to Harrah’s to drop off our bags. Then we came back out, went over to the Mirage and played there for a few hours. We got on the tram to TI and walked through there for awhile. It was pretty packed in almost all casino's, probably due to the cold weather. We stopped at Starbucks and sat down there for a bit while listening to the Karaoke singers across from us. It's pretty funny listening to those people all wasted trying to sing. It was a good time.
We got back on the tram back to the Mirage and slowly worked our way back to Harrah’s. Stopped at OShea's and went to the Subway in the back. Horrible service there, the guy messed up our sandwiches and couldn't figure out how to swipe the gift card through the register, so we ended up paying cash.
Took our sandwiches back to the room, took a quick nap then back to the Flamingo. Got another free t shirt there with the 25 base points. It was getting pretty late, we were out of money, and our legs were killing us from all that walking, so we went back to the room.
Our flight left at 11:29am so we got out of the hotel around 10. We got some money taken off the room from our rewards card so ended up paying a grand total of about $25. The airport was packed and security lines were very long. Plane was slightly delayed because of some small snow flakes! I found it funny because we left from O’Hare with way more snow than that.
$10 total airline fare, two comped nights in GO room, $25 for last night at Harrah’s. Had a great time, priceless.
