Hotel suitable for young adult and senior citizen

I am looking for a recommendation for a hotel that would be suitable for a senior citizen (my mother ) that has some challenges walking but will never admit that she needs a wheelchair. I am particularly worried because we want to be right on the strip, but most of the hotels look huge and I am worried about her doing all that walking.

Also, she loves to stay in the room most of the time and watch pay per view movies. Not dirty ones O;) but just new and up to date current titles.

For me, my only wish is to have a beautiful pool, but I am far from being one of the "beautiful people" if you know what I mean.

Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Mirage. I just came back from five nights there with a mother that has problems walking. The walk from the registration to the elevators isn't quite as long as some of the others. Do ask for room near the elevators and that will help tremendously. There are shops right outside the elevator banks too. Its an easy hotel to get around in without getting lost.

The pool is fabulous, but crowded. There were spots you could move chairs to that didn't have masses of people though.

The Secret Garden is not big at all so she may be able to enjoy that with minimal walking.

It is also connected to Treasure Island by a tram if you wanted to catch Mystere because it lets you out really close to the theatre (if thats something your are interested in).

They do have pay per view movies. Get a volcano view room and she can watch that too!

I would never normally take a young person to Vegas, but I have to for my upcoming wedding as my kids are part of it... I researched, and Monte Carlo is quiet, laid back, and you don't have to deal with the casino to check in, get to the rooms, or get to the pool. There is a bit of a walk to the strip, but they have moving sidewalks, etc. The strip location is central, and the overwhealming opinion is that it is much less smoky than the other major casinos. They consistantly rate well for value, and the only major complaint that runs through the reviews (and I have read over 150 on the property) is that the walls are thin and you can sometimes hear hallway or plumbing noise. This can be easily solved with cheap earplugs and there is a walgreens and cvs directly across the street and next door respectively. Considering the elderly party in your group, this may be good for any prescription or health needs. I have stayed in many properties, and the mix of fun pool and quiet(ish) property make Monte Carlo my suggestion. Have a great time-they (and you all) will love it!

barbary coast would be best for your mom, and where ever you pick ask for room close to elevator

there is no pool there. i think you can take shuttle and use orleans pool

b.t.w. many of pools get over run with people

Gus - You kill me. No pool? Why would you recommend a place that has no pool when she specifically requested a hotel with a beautiful pool?

Penny - I took my 80 year old parents to Vegas for 2 days last week. We stayed at Paris and it was perfect. Casino isn't too big, it's right in the middle of the strip, rooms were very nice, pool is nice, and there are a lot of eating options that don't cost a ton of $'s.

Take it from locals, look into MC. Great pool for you, easy access for your mother, full service hotel, central location, and affordable.

I took my elderly Mom (85) and stayed at the Monte Carlo. It worked out really great for her. It wasn't to big that she got lost and she could go to the food court, get coffee and sit for awhile and still feel she was part of what was going on. Be sure to ask for a room near the elevator. Otherwise it can be a long walk.

Monte Carlo...Center Strip.. I dont think so. I know I will get alot of crap for this but take her to the Imperial Palace. It is actualy "center strip" and not to bad to get around in. I agree the food there isn't good, but for the price and location you can't beat it.
