We always take a tram to baggage claim from SWA. It's not a very long ride. We asked if we could walk and were told that it's a long walk.

Do I need to take a tram from there to the ride share? - Are you asking about the Bell Limo ride share service. If so they have a booth outside Door 9 of that terminal

Yes, you have to take a tram from the C-gates to baggage claim. After you get to baggage claim, its a short walk to the ride share pickup area which is 2M. This is in the parking structure, level 2. Safe and happy travels.
