i can't help you with arranging 5 people, but have you looked at www.seatguru.com for seat information....like which seats to avoid and which are best?

when my whole family flies, we like to be across an aisle from each other... 3 on one side, 2 on the other.

Rows in the last half of the plane, that is those in back of the exit row have an additional inch or two of legroom. And in Vegas they allow you to exit and board through both the front and back doors of the plane. Exit rows have more leg room, but they don't always recline. For that reason I never request them.

actaually on Jet Blues web site they state that they have removed some seats and now rows 1-11 have 2 more inches of leg room versus 12-whatever.(36 inches 1-11 and 34 inches for the rest)

so since more legroom in first 12 rows i should sit there?

Iit only like a 2 inch difference - not sure if it matters?

SHOULD I LINE UP ALL 5 OF US ACROSS? - LEAVE A SEAT OPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF 1 SO NO1 SITS THERE?

are the people who never chosen seats just placed in the front and fill up the place from front to back?

yea i heard it can also be cold by the exit doors besides them not reclining

you are an adult - all 5 of you? Sit where ever YOU WANT. This is not rocket science, you don't need strangers to tell you where to sit. Look at the plane diagram and choose what you want. some like exit row, some don't' some like rear of plane, some don't. "better" is subjective

Here are some suggestions.

If you have a couple of fat guys, sit them so that there's a seat between them.

If you have a hot babe, sit between you and the dorkiest dude in the group.

If you have an ugly chick, sit her next to the two fat guys.

If you have a guy that passes gas, sit him next to the toilet.

If you have one that has a small bladder, sit him on the aisle.

Bad breath guy goes to the back.

Loudmouth goes to the front.

If one in the group is going to raise suspicion, distance yourself from him.

Other than that- you're good to go

For the best views of Vegas while on approach from the East, the right side of the plane usually works best. These are all the seats lettered as "F" on the A320s that JetBlue flies. That's all I really care about. Just get me there safely and reasonably on-time, too!
