Orleans - Trip Report

We (a friend of mine and I) left LA at 1 PM on Tuesday March 27th.

Those of you who live in S. California, already know that around noon on Tuesday, we had a storm (rain and cold weather and wind). Temps dropped to 50s (from 70)

Anyways drivin in the wind and rain was okay, but I had to pay more attention to other drivers!!!!!

Strange thing was when I was getting close to Baker, I realized that the temperature has dropped to 30s!!!!!!by the time we were outside the Baker, it started to snow for the next 20 miles, and then temps went up to normal (50s).

Anyways we were staying at Orleans (A first for me), so I was kinda nervous.

They also charge $5 a day resort Fee

To my surprise, the room was clean, the beds were normal, and furnitures were the usuall chair and desk and sofa......

TV was a regular TV (not Plasma!!!!)

The door to the bathroom was a sliding door

They had a coffe maker, ironing board and a safe in the room.

The iron was chained to the ironing board (never seen that before)

In the 4 days and 3 nights that I was there, I ate 3 buffet meals

breakfast at Orleans (cheap and good)

Lunch at South Point (in expensive and okay)

Dinner at Rio (expensive and over-priced, I rate that just good)

The rest of the meals we went to restaurants, and ate some better quality food.

As for gambling, I played at Orleans, Rio, South Point, Wynn, Mandalay Bay and Venetian.

On penny slots I broke even

On video poker I lost (didn't play too long, I guess)

Black jack table I lost everything, including my shirt, LOL

But Won at craps table.

Considering my big Loss at the BJ table, the whole trip cost me $600 (including Gas, food and one night hotel stay)

Overall, was a great trip, and now I am planning my next trip in May or June.

Thanks for the trip report. I have stayed at the Orleans and I have always been happy with my visit- the rooms were always clean and the staff helpful. I am glad it hasn't changed that much.

What restaurants did you go to?

Perhaps you could have tried VP at the Gold Coast. They do have better machines and I have always have had better luck there.

Glad you had a great time. Good luck on your next trip.

Hey MM, would you stay there again? When we stayed in December our iron was missing. I guess they had to change them down to keep people from taking them! I never called for one, I don't iron!

Did you eat at any of Orleans restaurants other than the buffet? The only thing I really didn't like was the sliding bathroom door, other than that it was fine for the price and even better for free!

Thanks for posting.

We ate at House of Blues and Border Grill (Mandalay Bay) and a noodle place at Venetian

Played craps at South Point

In las few trips I have stayed at South Point and Orleans

To be honest, they almost are the same, except SP is only few years old, so carpets and stuff are cleaner, and less smelly.

As far as gambling, I enjoy both casinos

Teacher Sue,

You know that I only stay at hotels that I have free room offers, so, if I get another offer, yeah I will stay there (and will not take the iron back to LA, I promise)
