First time in vegas, I want the best experience for my wife

We have the opportunity to go in the second week of June for 5 days. I want to plan a great time for my wife. It has been over 20 years that my wife and I have the opportunity to go some where without kids... We are not gamblers and we would like to see more of the west. I'm looking of a great hotel with a great spa. I have seems all the hotels-resorts in Las Vegas. I have read many good reviews about the mandarin and some of the MGM resorts but I'm afraid of the "hidden costs". I want to be sure, she has the opportunity to enjoy the Spa, go to great restaurants and visit the grand Canyon. I was hoping for you input, where did you go? what place was better that you expected and what hotel-spa do you recommend... Right know I'm thinking Vdara or Signature MGM. We also are ok to be outside of Las Vegas. Thanks

Qua at Caesars. if very nice.

Since going in June you may want to rent a cabana for her (and you) Nice lounges and can get out of sun when you want. Has fan, fridge and TV with your choice of music. Fruit and water. Great CW to help with your need.

Grand Canyon is a longer drive than you think. I would spend the night there 1 night.

Check a helo ride over the strip at night.

The cosmopolitan with a wrap around balcony, views of the fountains would be the best wow factor, if it is out of your price range, you could get a fountain view room with a smaller balcony.

We have been to the GC, but it was an all day ride , very tiring, but it was beautiful, much closer places to visit with a wow factor would be Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire, I would save the GC for another visit , when you can extend your vacation to ten days.

The entire Vegas experience is always a WOW for or me, lots of great restaurants, wow , Iffel Tower a restaurant with a view of the Bellagio fountains are certainly good , Top of the World is another www restaurants, up on the 106th floor with awesome views as the restaurant turns in a complete circle in 1 hour.

Plenty of good shows to see while your there.

Just walking into all the hotels , you will find wow factors.

The Bellagio fountains and the Mirage volcano are also wow experiences.

All the lights are wow.

"Right know I'm thinking Vdara or Signature MGM. We also are ok to be outside of Las Vegas."

So you want to sleep somewhere and then visit the Strip for everything else? Similar to the way you visit other places. That works perfect for a trip to San Diego (stay on Hotel Circle). That is not the experience I, and most others want in Las Vegas. Most of us stay in a hotel/casino with fantastic pool and spa, a couple of dozen restaurants, 6 bars, showrooms, shopping, and of course a casino.

To us, that is the Vegas experience. And one we can't get anywhere else.

I'm not sure what you mean by "hidden costs." I've never had any. Could you elaborate?

I would recommend Caesars Palace for this visit. Partly because their spa Qua is one of the best. The pool area is very nice, providing multiple options, and they have a nice variety of dining.

Of course you didn't provide a budget, so Caesars may not work.

BTW: Mandarin Oriental is a true 5 star hotel, and only the other 5 star hotels can compare. It also has what most who've been there consider the best spa on the Strip.

If you want the best experience for your wife, have her travel with someone else. ;)

As far as "hidden fees" you can expect to pay $25-40 per night in resort fees, depending on where you are staying.

For something on the strip check out Cosmopolitan and off the strip check out Red Rocks.

Stay on the strip and in a casino resort, it gives you the true feel of Vegas. Check out MGM and Aria. What are your exact dates and budget so we can better assist with recommending hotels? Regarding "hidden fees," there shouldn't be any. If you're speaking of the resort fees, they're not hidden but are not included in the nightly rate you often see on most sites. You will be informed of the resort fees at check out, budget around $35/night for that, plus tax.

For spas, are you looking to join her? Qua at Caesars is great. Aria has a co-ed spa that you could enjoy together. Spending a day lounging at the pool and renting a cabana would be a really nice treat.

If you're going for 5 days then I would probably skip the GC as it is a full day trip taken up with 10+ hours of driving and there's so much to do in Vegas itself. There are closer sites to check out as a day trip (Valley of Fire, Red Rock, and Hoover Dam come to mind).

GoodBeer: I recommend Hotel Circle to some one who doesn't want to be close to the action. Just like those who stay at timeshares/condos in Las Vegas.

The location works well for us, who always have a rental car, and want to see things both in and outside of San Diego. Of course hotels in San Diego cost more than those in Las Vegas.

Aria is a beautiful modern resort with gorgeous rooms, we have stayed here many times, since opened and their spa is awesome, they have a small spa pool overlooking the Aria pools which is relaxing as well. All of their restaurants are really great and the Burger place and Five Fifty Pizza (sit in or take out) are really good. The Bakery and Cafe are perfect for breakfast. Customer Service, Security, casino, cocktail service, top notch. Very good location and 1-2 minutes from front lobby to strip (don't listen to what some readers say its so far from the strip) Not True!!!!

Wynn, beautiful and classy, rooms gorgeous our other favourite resort, have been staying there for 13 years (we go for 8 nights spending 4 at Aria and 4 at Wynn)

The pool is the best every, can't explain but you will see what i mean if you stay there. Again, all restaurants, buffet are fabulous. Our favourites are Allegro (Italian), Sinatra (fine dining at Encore), and now the new Charlies which we love(casual walk in by sports bar) We really like the casino and atmosphere etc. Customer Service, security, Cocktail waitresses, the best anywhere. Although it is at the end of the strip it is across from Fashion Show Mall which is 4 floors of shopping, beside Palazzo and Venetian, can easily walk to TI, Mirage, Caesars, Bellagio

I can't say enough about Wynn and Aria, and if you are not able to stay there, make sure you visit these resorts..

Enjoy your trip to Las Vegas, after being there 55+ times I know you will absolutely Love it!!

I love Aria’s spa. They have an outdoor, ambient, co-ed pool, which allows you to relax and spend time with your honey. They have a salt room and another area that’s also co-ed (hard to come by in spas in Vegas). You can buy a day pass to enjoy the facilities if you don’t want to buy a massage or other treatment. Otherwise, a couples massage at any of the major spas would be a lovely choice.

I also love Aria as a hotel, but there are many great options in Vegas. Mandarin Oriental is likely an awesome choice, but I’ve only been in their Mandarin Bar (which I love - great views of the strip). Wynn/Encore would be the other fantastic choice.

I really like Vdara and Signature, but I think you have better options (unless you need a kitchen or want to be in a non-casino resort).

She’s a lucky lady to have you plan this for her :)
