Just returned from Bellagio

Just returned from a four night stay at the Bellagio. Hotel was beautiful. Only issue we had was we sat at one of the small bars (The one located just behind the (Carmamel Bar and Lounge) around midnight and started playing video black-jack we asked the waiter for a cup of coffee. He informed us that in order to get the coffee we had to play five hands with at least five coins bet each time (I had put a $20 bill in the machine and my husband loaded a $300 voucher cashed out from another machine earlier.) He said he knows if I only put a $20 in I won't bet enough. My husband just told him to give me his coffee since he was betting more than the max they require. I received a very small glass cup of coffee and when finished I asked for another one and was told again this time he will have to charge me $4. My husband wasen't having anything to drink and again just said give her my cup and he refused this time. I explained that when I am on 1cent or 5cent slot machine I get offered all the drinks I want which cost far more and now that I am just asking for coffee they want to refuse. I also let him know I am staying at the Bellagio and I am shocked at the great service and then type of treatment over over a cup of coffee. I also let him know that while he is standing at the other end of the bar he can't possibly know what I am betting on each hand. He would not give the coffee and I finally told him he was an A_ s_ and he refused to serve me the rest of the night. I went to his boss and was told that is their rules you must bet a certain amount (they will review the tape to make sure if in doubt. I said while your customer waits to get the coffee you are going to review the tapes. I realized this is crazy treatment and I won't get anywhere so I just found comfort in letting him know the truth about what he is. I am not sure if the management did anything on this although they did apoligize about the treatment. Very sad that this should even have happened put quite a damper on things for that evening. Other than that we had a great trip and I would still recomment the Bellagio just know I need to bet big for a cup of coffee. Beer no limits!

if the boss said this was the rules, and the bartender was following the rule how does this justify cussing at him? he does not make the rules - he does have to follow them. this is not unusual for bartop VP.

Unless he was rude, which you did not say he was and if he was I feel sure you would have told us, it seems like he explained the rules, and you didn't like them and were actually the A_s_.

I don't understand, you say they were following the rules and that they took the time to explain the rules to you and don't say anything about them being rude to you (only that they told you things you apparently did not want to hear) and THEY are the ones who were cursed at (by you) and YOU were somehow the "victim?"

Don't get it.

I can understand your point. All you wanted was a cup of coffee. People playing nickel slots get $8 long islands and beers I can see how you were upset. However, never curse at anybody, it's low class. For someone staying at Bellagio I would expect a little more composure. I work in retail and don't hold customers who use foul language in very high regard.

Welcome to the future Vegas.

They are already watering down the table drinks at some casinos (ORLEANS)

Customer service will continue to go down hill.

I agree that cursing at the bartender was not the right thing to do. He is following the rules. However, I do understand this person's point. He / she is probably paying a lot of money to stay at this high end hotel and is visibly gambling. A cup of coffee probably costs the hotel 15 cents or less. It seems petty to have that rule, it's not like this person was ordering double drinks over and over and not betting enough. I think the important thing to do is take this up with the customer service department instead of being angry with the bartender. The hotel needs to know how you feel about it or nothing will potentially be changed.

I agree that perhaps it wasn't handled well but I just returned from a 3 night stay at Bellagio and the service was horrible. Cocktail servers were so scarce, I didn't think they had any. :(

Why did you continue to play???? I would have cashed out and walked to Caesar's to play for awhile or called it a night. Each time I've stayed at Bellagio and played video poker at the bar, I received free drinks with a twenty in the machine. I would like to know,, was the coffee old tasting and stale?

Las Vegas is changing....soo sad.

Hope your next trip is better.

I stayed at Bellagio in July, and the service was horrible at the machines and tables. Therefore, we chose to play VP at different bars. I know we played at the one outside Fontana Lounge, and at 2 others, not sure if one was by Caramel or not. Anyway, we did this each morning, $20 in for each of us, minimum bet, and got all the coffee with Frangelico we wanted before hitting the pool. Maybe the rules changed since July, who knows? I wasn't impressed with Bellagio, and can't even believe it's a 5 star. I'd give it 3 at best, and that's for service, rooms, etc.

The best part of our stay was the valets, who knew us by name by the end of the week and were very pleasant and polite and service was top notch.

If you were in Arkansas, you'd be justified in calling the guy an %$&^##. In Vegas, you're not. If anything, it seemed like the guy bent the rules a bit by serving you the coffee when it wasn't justified by the Bellagio rules. I understand you're frustration. Everyone has their hand out in Vegas, but on this one I have to side with the Bellagio.
