Anyone been to the Westin Casurina??

I booked this hotel this week using up some points that were going to expire. The reservation people were very helpful after dealing with some not so helpful Aeroplan agents. I know that the hotel is quieter and off the strip. We are coming to celebrate my Mom's 70th birthday. We are both active and fit and don't forsee a problem with the bit of a longer walk. We like to hang out at the pool, any coments on that area??

We always stay at the Flamingo but the prices seem to be getting higher and higher.

If anyone has stayed at this property, I would appraciate advise on room location etc.............

Thanks!!

I have not stayed there, but I was considering it for another trip and looked into it. From what I understand, it's just right off the strip, maybe 2 blocks from what it looked like. People on here said it would not be a big deal to walk to the strip at all, especially given that you walk and walk and walk on the strip anyways!

I stayed there a couple of years ago. It was a nice hotel - quieter than typical Vegas with a small casino area in the lobby. The pool is kind of small but pleasant, the restaurant was pretty good. The room was on the small side but nicely furnished, clean and comfortable.

I guess I'd say that it felt a little more "sedate" than staying on the strip, or even at the Orleans (where I often stay), but was perfectly nice. It is about two blocks behind the Barbary Coast (did I read that they changed names??)

We stayed there a couple of years ago on Starwood points and thought it was very nice. Using that membership got us an upgrade to a very nice room. The pool yes was smaller but the shaded cabana areas were for everyone...the pool waiter very nice..almost like a private club atmosphere...no fights for lounge chairs! The hotel has more of a business atmosphere....we enjoyed the quiet location and the walk to the strip is very easy. No long winding walks thru the hotel lobby to get to your room and etc. The buffet breakfast was very good.

Thanks so much!! This makes me feel better............it will be a very busy time in Vegas when we are in town, so I think an "oasis" might be a great thing. We also love to get the good deals on meals at Ellis Island and we will be very close!!
