Don't know specifically about LV today, but I was in Tucson one summer when it was 116. The car was the worst. You could not touch the steering wheel without blasting the a/c for 5 minutes. And speaking of blasting, with any wind it feels like a blast furnace in your face. At least its dry, but that is dangerous, too. Your sweat evaporates almost immediately and you can become dehydrated quickly. The casinos and malls in Vegas love this weather as it forces people inside!

I am not there now but I have been there when it has been 115. What does it feel like? As soon as you step out of the airport the blast of heat hits you right in the face. I have always gone in the summer and I am always suprised by that blast. Yes, getting in a car is a challenge. The first thing I do when I go to the store- buy a windshield shield thingy. That helps somewhat but I also have to drape a towel over the steering wheel. I walk around with a bottle of water in my hand- always. I just keep buying them as I walk along the strip. They are cheap in the little stores-although not always that cold. If you wear a hat, sunglasses, plenty of suntan lotion, pop into the casinos. walk slowly and drink lots and lots and lots of water you almost (but not quite) get used to it. It is bearable- you just have to have the right attitude.

Jersey...curious as to why you would leave the fabulous Jersey shore/AC to go to LV during the summer months....?

I'm a big Wildwood Crest fan.

Actually, I am leaving for the airport in 1/2 hour- for Miami Beach- for the summer. I will make a trip out to Vegas in August. Humm- LV vs. AC- uh- no!! I haven't been down the shore in a while but I have friends who do go frequently. I haven't been to AC since I started going to Vegas- 15 years ago.

Have a nice Jersey summer!

I've heard that vp03's favorite wine is: "I wanna go to Miami! Take me to Miami!" And finally, her husband has listened. Good luck with the heat *and* humidity down there!

I teach in a school without a/c in Jersey. I am used to the heat and humidity. And I am making a short stop in Phoenix before going on to LV. And Ecuador! Next year I might try someplace like hummm....the north pole. Heard it is nice and cool down there i n the summer. lol

Our friends are there right now...they said it is ok because they are spending a lot of time indoors and heading outside after dark...that is the nice part about LV...stores, everything is open late...so you can just become nocturnal.
