So, we headed out to breakfast at my old fave, the Orleans buffet, played a couple of slots there, and then I asked Mike if he would drop me off at the Fashion show mall as I had never made it before and wanted to see all the shops we don't have in Canada, like Nordstrom's, Bloomingdales and (can you hear the angels singing.... ) Victoria Secret..... WOW, huge sale on there, the ladies that worked there had to bring me some towels to wipe the drool odd my face (I'm just joking!!)
All their creams, perfume sprays and other things :) were 75% off, I don't know any woman, no matter what kind of money they have, that does not get happy over a GREAT (sorry if I yelled there, but, you get my point) sale.
In the mean time... Our lovely upgrade to a Pacifica kind of poops out on us, the night before, we could not get the car to lock with the buttons on the key and had to (boo hoo) manually lock the car.
The problem was the alarm would not set and it was a pain in the butt to get the trunk to open, in fact, it only opened when we had the keys in the ignition and the car started, now far be it from me to say I know anything about a cars mechanical doings, but, there is something wrong if things only open, close, lock and unlock if the car is running. So, Mike decides, that he is not interested in shopping (I dunno why, he is a GREAT accessory to have while I shop, tall, long arms in order to hold and carry all, while I feverishly find the best deal, most awesome lip gloss etc... )
Poor guy, don't know why he puts up with me :)
So, he drops Mom and I off, and heads down the strip, patient guy that he is, he decides he needs to kill at least two hours, and likes to people watch and since there are long lights etc... He figures he will enjoy the strip drive. WRONG!!!! He is a computer dude and likes to trouble shoot, analyze etc... so, he decides to turn the car off at a stop light, and then turn it back on to see if he can reset the system, so, he plays with it a bit..
Anyways, when he turns the car back on, NOTHING electrical works... The Air conditioning, he has no idea what speed he is going, the windows won't open, now Mike is a calm guy, not much gets him going, but, keeping in mind, it is 44 degrees stupid outside, his hands start sweating, and he is unable to get any relief in terms of air or wind in there, he said his hands were slipping all over the steering wheel and he felt unsafe in the vehicle, but, was close enough to the car place to keep going. He got there, and they exchanged for another Pacifica... (Miracle as we figured we would now get the Dodge Caliber we were supposed to in the first place) but they say no problem and give him another, he starts to leave and as he is driving out, decides for the heck of it to pull over and check the key lock, electrical stuff again and if you can believe it, the second car had the same issue. They gave him another Pacifica and he tested it and it was fine.
More for this day coming soon, this is starting to get long. I will just add to this post as I go on.
Note to self: Do not ever get a Pacifica!!
OMG...how scary that would be! I can't believe it happened on two of the cars and they gave him a 3rd! Yikes!!
which is too bad, because as we drove away from Dollar with it the first five mins, we decided we LOVED it and wanted to buy one!! Not feeling so great about that now.....
I thoroughly enjoy your trip report. I love a sale, too!
Your poor husband......I just know you didn't mean 44 degrees, did you?
BTW I've rented a Pacifica the last 3 times, and I absolutely loved it the first 2!! Last month got one in California and every time I'd put it in reverse it made a gawd awful noise! My grand daughter (a teen) was mortified. Of course everytime we backed up, we drew a crowd staring at us.......sounded like a heap of junk, but here was this beautiful Pacifica! Made for an exciting trip! LOL
juwel, I totally meant 44 DEGREES..... What in the H#ll were is anyone doing there in this weather is my question.....
I truly don't think we will ever book again during this time ( no need to call me out on my trip I have booked in late July :)).... it is ridiculous!!!!! There are some I suppose who love heat, but, I mean really, this is silly heat :)
Juwel....Cooper is talking about 44 degrees Celsius....which is about 111 degrees Farenheit! I think the Canadians always measure temps. in Celsius...am I right Cooper?
Thanks for clearing that up. Thought I was going batty!! LOL
Completely forgot our temps are not the same, but I guess hot is hot!!
I'm going in July, too and I don't much care for the heat. But as I keep telling myself, 'Self, it's a dry heat. Not that wet stuff we have here!!'
Guess it's time for bed, I'm talking to myself! LOL
sooo, where was I ?
Mike came to pick us up and we went to drop all our lovely items we bought to our hotel room.
We went to the Pool at Strat, fairly impressive. largish pool, lots of lounges, covered area that had vapor sprayers on the roof, air conditioned workout facility room on the pool deck, not sure if there is a cost or not, don't think so though.
The most impressive that I found was the cabana's at $60 for the day, an air conditioning unit in them, tv and seating for four. Would do that for day if we ever went again during pool season and stayed at the Strat.
We decided to check out the outlet mall by downtown~ hit the Coach store... crazy busy, the sales lady told me to come back an hour before they closed or before noon each morning or you can barely walk around. Sooo, we left, no purchases that day. Hit the Nike store, didn't find anything particularly appealing though, so no buys again. Hit McDonalds for a cheeseburger. Mom had never been to the Venetian, so, we went and watched the gondoliers and then back to the strat. May be missing something here, but, think we just went back to the casino, had a few drinks, donated some cash to BJ and the slots and headed to bed.
LOL...I had to look a second time too before I figured it out! I'll be there in August.....the dry heat speech doesnt' work for me because Colorado has basically no humidity....so I just tell myself it's going to be hotter than home.....thank god for the a/c in the casinos!! =)
Wow....$60 for a cabana is a real deal!! How big is the pool there?
