Sunday

Sunday AM was a repeat of Saturday, with everyone gathering in our room for coffee and croissants. The only difference was this time it was accompanied by tearful good-byes. Everyone headed to their cars or the airport. Sob.

I still had one more round in the tournament and Bob headed off for more poker. We agreed to meet up at about 3PM. I did poorly and finished out of the money, but hey it was a good time. I decided that I hadn’t made my donation to Mr. Wynn I braved the heat and walked over to see if my favorite VP machine there still loved me. It didn’t. Oh well, such is life. The cocktail service was excellent, as always. The Wynn was dead; I guess people didn’t want to make the walk in the heat. Before my walk back to the Venetian, I got an ice cold bottle of water. By the time I got to my hotel the water was lukewarm. The heat is even worse walking next to the strip traffic. Mercifully, the walk wasn’t too long. I decided to spend the rest of the afternoon doing a little shopping at the Canal Shoppes (more sales everywhere) and a little VP at the casino.

Bob and I met up and “said” our goodbyes. He had a 7pm flight back to Dallas and I would be on my own for my last day in Vegas.

The strip was still crowded that night as I strolled from casino to casino making my donations. Drinks report – Belliago was horrible, I waited over 30 minutes for a drink and finally took my business over the PH. Drink service there was slow but I finally got a drink. I was losing money quickly and it was still very crowded, with lots of kids. It was still well over 90 as I made my way back to my lonely hotel room (sob). Gambling report – everyone complains that the slots are tight, but honestly I barely heard the shouts of joy that marked the big wins and saw only 1 hand pay the entire weekend. For the size of the crowds, you would think there would be more wins.

I stopped for takeout at the Grand Lux – my favorite Coco-Mac chicken skewers – there was a line out the door at 11:30. FYI – you can order anything to go on the Grand Lux menu from the bakery next door. It’s great when the line to the restaurant is long. Occasionally we will do this and carry our food to the food court across the way and eat it there.

Monday

Got my room service coffee and croissants and took my time getting dressed and packing. Called the front desk to pick up my bags and after they arrived, I made my way to the Canyon Ranch Spa for a hot stone massage. (My birthday present from Sky goddess) The spa was an oasis of calm. My masseuse said they had been very busy over the weekend with all the brides and bridesmaids, but they were quiet today. I’m glad I waited until Monday for my visit, according to her the weekend had been very chaotic. I enjoyed the spa facilities for a while and had a long workout. I finally decided that I better shower and dress and get in one last VP session.

My money ran out just as it was time to leave for the airport. Retrieved my bags, the bellman got me a cab and I was off. The airport was busy, but security took only about 5 minutes. It wouldn’t have matter if it took longer since my flight was delayed by 2 hours. Made it home and the fog had rolled in and it was a wonderful 60 degrees.

Totals

Gambling losses $$$

Money spent saving money on sales $$$$

Having friends and family in Vegas to celebrate my birthday – priceless.

Hope I haven’t bored you with this report – I was carried away reliving it as I was writing it and didn’t mean it to be this long.

Nice report traveler771! Grand Lux is one of my favorite spots!

I used to love the fog when I was a kid and by my early 20's I would curse it looking for that warm summer day- but as I have gotten older, I welcome it with open arms! Gottal love the Fog rollin in over the hills ya know?
