Arriving Christmas day...where to stay?

I will be arriving in LV for my first trip on Christmas day for five days. As a first timer on a bit of a budget people have recommended either Bill's or The Imperial.

I havn't reserved anything yet as i normally like to book things when I arrive so I can get a look at the location first. Would I end up paying any more than if I book in advance online?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Umm yeah, fly half way across the world and don't have reservations when you arrive. That would be brilliant. Make a reservation somewhere, anywhere. If you don't like it and can find a better deal when you arrive, you can always cancel.

I have done it that way for years in the US and many other countries, in a lot of cases ending up with a better deal In some cases getting free upgrades. All part of the adventure!

Having never been to Vegas I was checking the lay of the land. Is there likely to be a shortage of hotel rooms over Christmas?

DocMontoya,

You are probably going to find something since it is often a little slower during Christmas season.

It sounds like you like to "wing it" and that it works for you. I personally would never go to LV without reservations. There are so many great deals for cheap rooms on the hotel websites during Christmas. Just don't plan on a room for New Years Eve.

Hope it works out.

You certainly are not going to get a better deal by showing up with no reservation in Vegas, especially at a Strip hotel. On the slowest days, Vegas hotels are pretty busy and would not offer you a better rate than what you could have booked in advance.

I would book something in advance. While the very beginning of your trip is a slow time the end is a very busy time. I think if Bills and IP are within the budget you are looking at then Bills is the better option.

The first time we arrived in Vegas without a reservation it was at Spring Break and we were lucky to end up in the Motel 6 on Tropicana.

The Imperial is booked for the week you want. Bills has 5 nights for around $500 US. The Orleans also comes in at around $500. Bills has a great location with decent rooms. Book Bills before you leave London. You really don't want the hassle of going from casino to casino looking for the best price. Trust us.

Doc, when you arrive in Vegas, go to the Frontier hotel casino. They are super reasonable right around now! :)

Hilton Las Vegas has great rates on Bookit.com for your days. Avg. $95 USD per night. Hooters avg. is $98 and TI is avg. $141 (for comparison). If you're messing with us then have a good chuckle and a GREAT time!
