What are some good "non-hip" nightclubs and lounges?

While in Vegas my wife and I want to have a good time and we'll definitely want to be good and inebriated for a fair share of the trip, but the thought of waiting in lines for hours and trying to look my best so I can get drunk at the trendiest place in town doesn’t sound appealing at all. I don’t have a problem with going to a brand new Lounge or club, but it’s not worth it to get bottle services for just the two of us.

I know it has alot to do with looks and the number of women, but its just the two of us. My wife is a young knock out, but I'm just a geek that got lucky, so I can already picture them ushering her in and knocking me to the curb!

So far it sounds like Voodoo and Quarks bar are a couple of good places to check out that won’t be battle to get into, and maybe Margaritaville? Are there any other good places to check out? Taste wise we’re open to just about anything because coming from a small town in the middle of the mountains the closest things we have to compare to a night club is karaoke night down at the bar. So anything we try will probably be great.

Margaritaville definitely. What my husband and I do is go from hotel to hotel and check out all the different lounges and bars. Then when we hit one we like we stay there. In NYNY you have the Times Square piano lounge on the main floor and also Coyote Ugly which does not do the let the pretty one in thing.

Just a word of advice - don't put yourself down because if you weren't special you wouldn't have a "HOT" young wife. Always think positively and it will show through to everyone.

Kahunaville at TI is pretty good too...no cover, bartenders have a flare show and actually has pretty good food as well.

Studio 54 and Rain are 2 clubs you can check out that aren't on the hot list anymore.. Tabu is a nice lounge that may not be too much trouble getting into depending on the time.. for something casual, i do like the Pub in Monte Carlo..

Like you I don't like over-the-top dance clubs. I prefer to be abke to relax, listen to some good music and enjoy some drinks whithout being crashed into. With that in mind here are my personal favourites (many of which I was visiting las week):

Fontana Bar at Bellagio

Live music and views over the fountains

Caramel at Bellagio

Intimate, relaxed and great drinks

Playboy at Palms

Earlier on in the week before it gets too busy. Lots of people don't like the Playboy as they view it as being over-priced. To me, it is a little bit of history.

Mix at Mandalay Bay

On top of THEhotel with some amazing views of the strip in a truly stunning location.

Revolution at Mirage

Busy, slightly more energetic and great music (if you love the Beatles!)

Living Room at Planet Hollywood

Upstairs from the casino, a really good place to un-wind after a hectic day.

Of the bigger nightclubs, my personal favourites are Studio 54 and Lax.

Hope this helps.

I had asked a few days ago if there was a list of lounges in the casinos that I could print out. A very helpful poster referred me to reviewjournal.com/neon/nightlife/lounges.html I printed out the pages I wanted to give to friends that are going for the first time. It was very helpful.

Once again you have all been awesome. This definetly gives us some options to check out, so my fears of not being able to easily get a good drink can now be laid to rest!

Saddly with this question answered I'm finding myself running out of things to look into before we start laying down some legit plans. I know that should be a good thing, but I've actually really been enjoying reading up on everything as I look forward to the actual trip.

I guess I just shouldn't have come to TA, you've all just been to good at answering all my questions!
