Accommodation at MGM?

We have narrowed fown our choices to MGM and Mandalay.

We are most interested in the pool and sights not gambling at all.

The thing is I have come across a site where you can book rooms really cheap, I think someone posted a link for me on here???

Anyway, the fine print says something about showing a players card??? Does that mean the prices are only for gamblers and you have to have this players card???

Here is the site:

http://www.smartervegas.com/

Its the MGM Ultimate escape we were interested in for the 10th Aug till 15th Aug (the cheapest possible time frames)

Thanks Katie

Yes, it does appear that that promotion is for Players Club members. That really isn't a problem though.

You can either sign up on line at https://www.playersclub.com/ and pick up your card when you get there or just stop by the Players Club desk upon arrival and sign up there.

I've never been asked to show my card upon checkin--but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get it before you go to the front desk.

Yes it does seem we are a minority!

We really are just interested to see the hotels in their splendor and the shows. We will have our toddler with us, which it seems many think is either crazy or stupid. We just figured if we were coming all that way to see the LA and San Diego regions Las Vegas was pretty close and had flash looking hotels, pools and shows so we could do it for a few nights anyway.

Is players club free or do you pay?

I wonder if international people can join it seems kind of crazy that they offer such a good rate compared to the hotel.

MGM Mirage Players Club is totally free. This is the case with all players cards. It's always worth signing up for these even if you don't gamble a penny. There's often free gifts for doing so and you're on the hotel's radar for possible future offers.

As others have said the chances of being asked for your card at check-in are extremely remote, but you may want to sign up for your card in the casino first just in case..... :-)

Don't worry Wildmum, you're not alone!! We don't gamble either and will be visiting in July. We will be in LA, and it seems such a waste to go all the way there and not visit the Grand Canyon. Also, I must confess I love Cirque du Soleil. And the grandeur of Las Vegas and its hotels seems very appealing!! I am also looking forward to the NYNY roller coaster!! And it's a cheap place to stay at - where else would we get a 4 star hotel for $69 per night!!

We also got a $69 rate at the MGM grand with $35 credit, 2 inner tubes for the lazy river, but this does not require a player's card. Though this is lower than our initial rate - I just called them and they ammended the reservation! Unfortunately for your dates it is $89 per night, whereas the one you mention is $69.

Mum, don't worry about not gambling. We're not big gamblers either. As a matter of fact, the first several trips we made to Vegas, we barely gambled at all.

Haha . . . and compared to most, we STILL barely gamble at all!! (Now don't laugh, people) . . . we only budget about $25/day/person for gambling. If we happen to win, we might gamble away some of our winnings above the $25.
