The question is impossible to answer without any sort of clue about what roughly you're happy to spend per night. "Breaking the budget" will mean something drastically different to different individuals.

One big thing in your favor is that mid December is just about the cheapest time of the year to visit Vegas in terms of hotel rates, and you can pick up some amazing deals then. Later in the year rates will very possibly drop even more so if you're thinking of booking something now do so directly with a hotel to ensure maximum flexibility closer to your trip.

None of them will guarantee a view. Maybe the Bellagio if you reerve a lake view and arrive early.

Best views, the pool side, up high at the TI to see the whole south strip.

the Bellagio if you want the the Lakeview.

Bellagio has awesome views of the strip and lake. Paris has very good views of lake too. Just be sure you specify what view you want when booking.

"None of them will guarantee a view."

Many Strip hotels have guaranteed Strip view rooms that cost more than a standard room. Bellagio, Mirage, Paris, TI, Harrah's and Flamingo to name but six.

To add to what Blagger said, the Venetian can be added to that list as well. You can spend a little extra and reserve a view.

The standard rooms with the best (most complete) view of the strip are those in the Fiji Wing of Mandalay Bay.

All of the hotels on the strip are built with the rooms facing east or west, but Las Vegas Blvd runs north to south. In other words almost all rooms face the other side of the street.

The Fiji Wing at MB is the exception, this wing is built perpindicular to the Strip and the rooms look directly north up the strip. So you get a direct view of almost all the strip hotels.

The rooms that have the next best view are at TI. Because TI is built where bends slightly some of the rooms have a more direct souther view.

Those 2 views are the ones most commonly used in movies and TV to show the strip in it's glory.
