Fellow Vegas addicts ~ pls help me get this trip 100% booked

OK - here is the deal. I want to go to Vegas again. BAD. My brother and his wife are going in July. Actually she is the only one that is certain to go because she is going for a conference. My brother asked me and my husband to go. He will NOT go because "July is too hot". He said we'd go this winter.

Problem is my husband is not committed on the dates. He said he'd probably go to Old School but he just won't commit on the airfare because in his opinion, now that we have table games 45 minutes away, he doesn't need to fly 4.5 hours to play blackjack or poker. I on the other hand can drive 10-15 minutes and play machines. It is NOT the same as Vegas. I guess being a working wife and mom need the time away to recharge. It is more than machines or gambling. It is the entire package that Vegas has to offer (spas, shows, pool time, adult time, me time). I know that sounds incredibly selfish, but I hope you guys get what I mean. A 15 minute ride to a slot parlor or 45 minute drive to a mini-casino just doesn't get my fix. Honestly, I am to the point that I don't care if I go to the local places. I'd rather save it for Vegas.

Back to the issue at hand. I can still go to Vegas without him. I was just there in April but I got some offers that are just too good to pass up. I can stay 2 nights free at Caesars in a Forum Tower room Friday and Saturday night and I got the "bring a friend offer" from Paris and can stay there up to 2 nights free and the 2nd room is free there as well plus two bottles of champagne. We don't need the 2nd room until Sunday so this works out perfect. This is 4 nights free in Vegas, over a weekend. Yes, I am a gold card holder. I don't know how I got these offers and comps at my level of play!!! I guess because summers are slow and maybe the economy?

I just booked the rooms so I know that I am not dreaming. If this works out I'll be there NEXT MONTH - late on Friday July 18th! I have up to 72 hours to cancel prior to the trip. I just need to convince him before I book the airfare. I want to fly out on USAirways on Friday night and that ticket would not be refundable. I plan to return on SW so booking that when I see a cheap fare is really not a problem.

Any suggestions on how to convince him this is a great deal, too good to pass up, and I need to go?

BTW - I know complete strangers can not make me convince my husband, I just want to see if any of you have ideas that I haven't thought of! :)

Because you need to go and spend time alone with him...and tell him it is the whole package not just Vegas (spas, pools, shows, dining, adult ALONE time) It is your job to convince him that his time in Vegas with YOU is worth the money ;)

You can do it, waltrip...I have faith in you!

Perhaps you can promise him some 'bedroom' time. Men are soooo easy to manipulate sometimes ... LOL! (no offense to men ... really)

Oh Ducky, thanks, but I already did that route. I even tried to find a race or something for him to go to. He just won't go in July. He has his dirt track racing every Saturday night, he doesn't like July heat in Vegas, he is working too much stuff. I need to convince him that I should go with my brother and sister-in-law. If I knew for sure we would go in the fall/winter I'd wait but I can't say that he will go. I think (for him) the table games near us made Vegas loose some of its appeal. I'd hate to pass this up and not be able to go with someone again until next year! :o My friend I went with in April said no more Vegas this year!

Waltrip-

I feel your pain!

I'm thinking he's told you he won't go....and you've tried the"convince my hubbie" tricks that all of us wives use (okay us not-so-creative wives);) Valiant effort, though!

Sooo...onto a new tactic:

Just go without him. If you need the alone time, pool time,ME time (mom's know!)then take it!!! And don't feel bad. I know you really want him to go along, but it really doesn't sound like he is going to budge.(Plus, if it really is too hot for him,DH may make it miserable for you if he went along just to make you happy) So go with your brother & sis-in-law & have a great time.

Then you'll get 2 Vegas trips. This one & the one your DH says he'll take you on during the winter.

Win-Win situation, methinks!!JMO

Have fun!!!!

Go solo with your brother and wife and use the rooms. Treat yourself with the spas etc. on the July trip. Plan some time away from your B and SIL that's just for pampering you. Do all the things your DH doesn't like to do that you'd like to do. You can plan a later trip with him when the weather is cooler. It sounds like the temps might be your leverage. Keep checking for deals...another most likely will come your way.

Are you able to pay for the tickets with your own money? If so, I'm not sure why you need to convince him.

People laugh at us, but DH and I keep separate bank accounts for exactly this type of thing. As long as the bills get paid, I don't care what he does with his spending money and he doesn't care what I do with mine. Works out really well.

Yes, I just want him to see that it is a great idea for me to go without him. He doesn't think I need to go to Vegas again so soon but he just won't commit to a trip later this year. He doesn't get Vegas anymore. Ugh. :(

Hey 15 I hope that your trip works out. We all need to get to Vegas. Michael told me at the beginning of the year that we didn't need to go to Vegas either so I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be going this spring. Low and behold Harrah's sent me an offer for free tickets to see Cher. He loves Cher and I knew that he would go and we did.

Find something that Vegas has to offer that the at home casinos don't. If he still says no then I say go by yourself. You will have a great time.
