This is a pretty general question to be asking on the forum. You won't get toomany responses, I don't think.

There are many Vegas web sites with tons of easily accessible general information, particularly monthly weather averages & places to eat, play.

Mirage is a nice hotel, well situated mid-strip with a nice pool (although I think pool is closed at that time of year, as it's a bit cooler then).

Mirage has a buffet, as do all the hotel/ casinos, where there is sure to be food to satisfy everyone in your group. All hotels also have coffee shop-ytype restaurants with burgers, fries, blt's, cvlub sandwiches, breakfast stuff, etc... There are many fast foosd outlets within walking distance of Mirage- try The fashion Show Mall, located adjacent to Treasure Island, Mirage's "sister" hotel, connected by free tram. There's a Wendy's, KFC, Philly Cheesesteak, Chinese, etc... in the food court. Treasure Island also has a Canter's Deli, which IMHO has great sandwiches & unbelievable chicken noodle soup.

Anyway, again, I strongly recommed you use the web to get basic Vegas info. before your trip & the use this wonderful forum for more specific questions & advice.

Thanks & enjoy your trip.

I went for Christmas and New Year just gone. To give you an example, on the 23rd December we were sat outside with short sleeves and tank tops. On Christmas Day it was teeth chattering cold.

My husband and I go every year between Christmas and New Year to celebrate our anniversary. We have found the weather to be a real mixed bag. One year it even snowed and people were standing in the street to see it. Some days can be fairly warm, but it will still be cold when the sun goes down. I think we have probably experienced more cold than warm. As for places to eat, I bet your kids would love a buffet. Some good ones are at Paris, Bellagio, Wynn. I'm sure there are many more. I just haven't eaten at them. Usually a buffet will have something for everyone.

There is no way of knowing what the weather will be like at that time. I was there on NYE and Christmas for 7 years. What it is like one year has nothing to do with what it is like any other year. The average high- about 55 but the high can range from the 30s to the 70s. The average low-mid 30s but can range from the teens to the 50s. Bring clothes that can be layered so you will be prepared for any kind of weather. And check a weather site just before leaving.

Will you be there for NYE or are you going early January?

I've also been for NYE and can tell you to count on cold weather.

The Mirage has a great buffet called Cravings.
