My Mega Experience - Soooo glad we went!

Got back last night from a wonderful 4 days in Vegas! It has been great reading all of the TR's from everyone. Over 75 people were in attendance and I don't believe I got to meet all of them. We'll just have to correct that at our next M & G! I will post my TR below. Hope I can remember everything.

I'll try to hit the high points since I know there will be many TR's to read.

1) Travel: Routine flight from Shreveport Sunday night on Allegiant. Car from Dollar ($10/day!)

2) Sunset Station: We have never stayed or even visited here before, but with a coupon from ACG, it was a great deal. We were upgraded to a suite (go figure!) and what a view!! When we opened our curtains, we had a view of the entire strip and downtown! It was beautiful all lit up at night, I just wanted to stand at the window and look.

The hotel was great, the room super clean and spacious. The casino had lots of penny slots, beautiful Gaudi type stained glass canopy over the table games. Newspaper delivered in the morning. Ate at the coffee shop - very good late night specials for $4.99. Hung around the pool all day Monday. Very quiet and low key. Uncrowded. I wish there was music and drink service around the pool, though. I believe drink service is available on weekends. The brand new Galleria Mall is right across the street. We walked to it to check it out. Unfortunately, the slot gods were not smiling on me the entire trip! Anywhere!

3) Spamalot: I am not a Monty Python fan, but my husband is, so I figured I had dragged him to enough shows of my choosing, so why not do this one for him? I can say that this was one of my favorite shows I have seen in LV. (It doesn't hurt that John O'Hurley is good-looking, too!). The show is a scream and there is not one serious moment. Would definately recommend seeing it if you are going to LV by July 13, which is its closing.

4) Lunch at Wynn: Tuesday morning we had to change hotels, but we first went to the Wynn lunch buffet to use the last of our 'Red Card' free buffets. I think I would pay full price! It was terrific and the lines were not as long for lunch as for dinner.

Loved the key lime pie. Slot gods here were not friendly, either.

5) Orleans: Got a $34 promo rate so we spent our last 2 nights here. We love the Orleans and will be back in November when I take my mom (now THAT will be a trip report!). Hung out at the pool all day. Great music, drink service available at poolside bar, and although there were lots of people, it wasn't crowded or difficult to find a chair. Also ate at Don Miguel's with ACG coupon.

6) Mega: It was great meeting everyone. I had tried to memorize faces and names on the website, but still had to rely on the name tags. Great food - thanks to those who organized this!!! I even won a door prize: 2 tickets to see the Titanic exhibit. Believe me, this was the ONLY thing I won in Vegas! I also appreciate the CD's that Marge made. We have been listening to them ever since! Great mix and I love the way you tied titles to specific events or people.

7) Downtown: After the Mega we went DT and ate at Magnolia's at the 4Q with ACG coupon. Coupon queen, here!!

8) Spa at Orleans: DH had a spa appointment at 11, so I shuttled over to the Gold Coast. He always gets a deep tissue massage at the Orleans and raves about it.

9) Cabana Day at Mirage: What a beautiful pool area! Thanks for everything, organizers!!! Enjoyed talking in the pool to Stratton and Double Diamond. She and I have a lot in common!! The 3 cabanas were awesome - it felt so good to get out of the pool and come into the shade. Great talking to Chach and all of my LaTex friends, also.

10) Titanic Exhibit: With the tickets I won, we went to the Trop for this exhibit. Very good. When you enter, you are given boarding passes for the White Star Line which contains information about an actual passenger. At the end, you can check a wall of those who perished/survived. Mine lived, but my husband's didn't. The 'deck' exhibit was a bit scary and I had to wait for my husband to catch up - I was the only one out there for a while. I think I would like to see 'Bodies', also.

11) Red Rock: Always enjoy visiting here, but again, slot gods very unfriendly.

12) Final night: Upon arriving back at the Orleans, the huge marquee outside had a tribute to George Carlin, who had just performed there a week or so ago and was a regular in their entertainment rotations. I took a picture of it, very sad. It was also strange seeing his picture on the little placemats at the buffet. I took a few as souvenirs. I know, weird.

13) Headed home: Again, routine flight home.

Met up with my daughter and her boyfriend for dinner in Shreveport before driving to Natchitoches. While there, my brother called to say he was booking his trip in November to coincide with ours! We will all stay at the Orleans again - with my mom - what a hoot. She thinks the Luxor is a car!

Overall, even though the slot gods were terrible to us, there were many other positive points. To all of the organizers, thank you, thank you, thank you! To those new friends I have finally personally met, I hope to see you again. To those I somehow missed, perhaps our paths will cross again at another event. Till then, I will keep in touch via TA!!

Yes, our trip was very relaxing. We are not much on the party side, and we had a bit of a medical scare last week, so we really had to play it down. All is fine!

I didn't mention that we did not step foot on the strip one time this trip! We drove up to the valet at a few strip hotels, but as far as walking on the strip, we did not do that in all of our 4 days. And still had a great time!

Maybe our November trip will be a bit more profitable. As my husband said, this trip was just a 'steady bleed', no ups and downs at all. Oh well, still had fun!

I am glad you had so much fun in spite of the fact that you didn't win anything. But you didn't let that stop you from enjoying your stay. You can add Sunset Station to the list of the hotels we both enjoy. I haven't stayed there in a while but I do visit when I am finished with the Ethel M Cactus garden. Their movie theater used to show some great non-mainstream films. I am happy to hear it hasn't changed much.

So you were a survivor! That is another thing we have in common. I survived- twice!!

Even the Gold Coast let you down? Shame on it! I will have a good talk with it on my next visit!

I am already looking forward to your trip with mom and brother in November.

Thanks for writing the TR so that we- the stay at homes- can now enjoy the Mega.

Glad you made it back ok without any more medical scares. So sorry you didn't come out on the winning side.. a slow bleed...I hate that. But perhaps Vegas is just saving it up for November!

Glad you got to go to the M&G and had fun. And glad you got your pool time and relaxing in.

mrsg...it was very nice to meet you and your husband. I am glad you had a relaxing time. I wish I could say the same, but yet mine was not nearly as crazy as some. I need a few days to get caught up on my sleep.

Glad your home safely, and thanks for the kind words at the M&G. It was great to meet you and see your face =)

You know I would have gladly swapped you your Titanic tickets for the bodies exhibit we took next door earlier in the day. NOT worth the $30 tickets IMO. Stupid Buggy won tickets to the bodies exhibit at the M&G and then just rubbed it in that he got free tickets! lol Could have saved me $60!

Sorry about the medical condition and hope it improves or is much better now.

Next to you will do noting but WIN!
