Tropicana Hotel..What is going on?

I am booked to stay at the Tropicana Hotel in Vegas in September and also am getting married there... We have paid deposits etc but have hard that they are in the poop financially .. I cannot access their website and there seems to be no way to communicate with this hotel. Can anyone help or shed some light on this matter.. I have a friend in Nevada and he sent me an article saying they were in the gun but were still trading... This does not really help me as I am traveling from the other side of the world... ie; Australia and really need to know that they are still operating as normal...We also have other guests coming to Vegas and they too have been booked to stay there..

Thanks

your current locale doesn't matter - we all have access to the same info and menas of communicating with any property - you can always call or e-mail, just like the rest of us, and wait for an e-mail reply if you choose not to call.

The trop is not a great place - what made you choose this as your wedding property? They are operating as normal as far as I know, which is always subject to change - know that normal for the trop is sub-par for LV. Did your friend in LV help you with this decision?

Congrats on the wedding - if you want more ideas the book NEON NUPTIALS may be godd for you.

The Trop has been in dire financial straights many times over the years and has gone through many owners, but as far as I know, they have never closed the doors since 1957. The one thing they have going for them is location and even in LV's depressed real estate market, the property is worth enough to keep it open.

Their website works fine for me. I would do as my buddy Bridgey suggests and contact them directly to check on the details of your wedding and stay.

I also had no problems getting to their website. Specific contact page:

http://tropicanalv.com/contact_us.asp

or you can use either one of these numbers:

local-702-739-2222

or

800-634-4000 -this is for room reservations but they will transfer you to another extension.

good lord! poor you, your first post and your first reply is from good old cranky pants herself.

Ignore her snarky replies, she is quite knowledgeable about many things related to Las Vegas, but, her tact is lacking incredibly often!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

You should be able to cancel your rooms and your guests rooms no problem, with getting a full refund by simply making a phone call to the reservations desk (Unless you are locked in due to renting rooms with your wedding package???)

Secure other hotel rooms first, just to make sure you can get something you can afford (I have no idea what you paid for your rooms or your financial abilities)

If you are on a budget,

I would try the Orleans or Gold Coast off strip -- on strip, Bally's, Mirage, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood, Treasure Island, New York, New York, MGM--those are all fairly reasonably priced and decent hotels to stay in (I would suggest they are nicer than the Trop which is likely in need of a good retrofit)

I do not know if you can cancel your wedding at Trop.

I would shop around a bit other hotels to find their wedding pricing, seems to me weddings in LAS are reasonably priced, but, that is just hearing from friends who have gotten married there (The little white chapel... Mandalay Bay, Flamingo)

well good luck to you, and hope you get in touch with them. I just looked on their website, their phone number is.... (702) 739-2222

Yes cancel the Tropicana-it has been a dump for over 5 years.

Treasure Island and South Point are good choices.

Thank you for your advice.. I cannot access any of the links you have sent re the Tropicana.. Not from Australia anyway, nor can my partner from her pc..something not good here..!!! all other sites in Vegas are fine and I have just been to the Orleans site so...I think there might be an issue there.. As for the wedding etc... yes we have paid deposits but not sure if we can cancel these.. Rooms are not booked as part of package.. We have been to Vegas a couple of times and all of our friends that have stayed there have recommended Tropicana??? interesting to read your comments... re it being below standard..
