Help w/ xmas trip for 1st time vegas trip

I am planning a vegas trip for 2 nights for my 21y/o college son, returning xmas eve. We are world traveled and accustomed to really nice hotels, but have not been to the vegas strip. The TA reviews are eratic or confusing to me. Here are my ??

Do we stay at the Bellagio or the Four Seasons?

I like the ambiance of the 4Seas, but it appears to me that the Bellagio is more conveniently located. Is that true?

I don't know what the Mandalay Bay is, which is where the 4Seas is. As I understand it, it's a hotel inside a hotel? Is it something else also?

I made resev at Joe's, a fav for us from Miami.

I want to have a classic Vegas experience, w/ an upscale casino, great dining, golf and spa.

Is there another recommendation that you would make for hotel, sights, events, restaurants?

I appreciate your help very much!

Thank you.

While most will say the Bellagio has the better location for a 21 year old I would go with Mandalay Bay (Four Seasons). Much better place for a youngin!

Living in LA and no trips to Vegas? I hope you really enjoy your first trip.

Here are a few answers.

I would pick Bellagio over Mandalay Bay. Bellagio IMO is more upscale and is in a more central location. You have a bit of time to make your choice so I would go to their websites and compare the two.

As for hotels, the Bellagio and 4seasons are great choices, but have you considered the Wynn? The Four Seasons does not have a casino inside it, so if you're looking for an all in one, the four seasons will not fit your bill. If you're wanting to fit in golf - the Wynn might also be a good choice since they have their own golf course. You arent there very long to get much into a classic vegas experience, but try and take in a show one evening and maybe visit downtown another.

The bellagio fountains will be awesome for you to watch and make sure you check out their conservatory as it will be beautiful this time of year.

If you want a great spa (aside from the ones at your hotel) take in a day pass at Qua at Caesar Palace.

Dont take too much stock in the reviews... You wont go wrong at ANY of these hotels, no matter what the reviews say.

Four Seasons will beat Bellagio any day.

The Four Seasons is in the same building as Mandalay Bay so it is as easy as taking the elevator to get to the casino. Bellagio and Wynn for my tatse are too stuffy. I would go for the Wynn over Bellagio though.

I would suggest an Augustus Tower room at Caesar's Palace for an upscale room in a central location. I would also recommend you forget about golf because of the short duration of your stay. You can golf anywhere, btu there is way too much to see and to in Vegas to spend half your trip on the golf course.

Also, the spa at Caesar's is second to none.

the mandalay bay is a hotel/casino which is apparently connected to the four seasons (i never knew that before). it also has a small shopping mall, the house of blues, and many bars/restaurants as most hotel/casinos do. it really is a nice hotel.

however, if you have not been to the las vegas strip, then i wouldn't recommend the 4 seasons. you just don't get that over the top vegas feel. you can stay in a 4 seasons in any major city across the country.

i would recommend the wynn for a truly upscale experience, followed by the venetian/palazzo (all suite hotels), then followed by the augustus tower at caesars. i personally think the bellagio is over-rated, and was the nicest hotel back when it was first built. the grounds/casino are still lovely, but you can visit it in the day as the rooms as somewhat dated and overpriced. also, the place is packed with foreign tourist, nothing against foreigners, but being from the la vacinity myself, it makes me feel like i'm at disneyland.

i also agree with stratton (it's a bad habit) and would nix golf since you're there for only 2 nights. too much stuff to see. as for sights, i would just walk down the strip and stop in every major casino i see. for spa's, all of the hotels mentioned will have very nice ones inside their hotel.
