Going to LV for the first time

My DH and I will be going to LV for the first time in December 08.

We were thinking about staying at either The Mirage or Treasure Island, what is your opinion on these two places.

What are some of the must do and must see places in LV.

Your responses will be greatly appreciated....

I've stayed at both and enjoyed both, but prefer The Mirage.

For us the pool area (which won't make a hoot of difference to you in December) and dining choices were better at The Mirage . . . as was the atmosphere . . . it's classier. I love the rainforest and smell of the place.

The one plus of TI is that it has a SLIGHTLY better location. One property south shouldn't really make much difference . . . but properties in Vegas are HUGE.

btw . . . you're about to have the time of your life. Enjoy!

Opinion is not going to matter, the Mirage is the class Hotel of the two. The Mirage Std rooms, restaurants and pool area are superior to that of the TI.

Oops . . . I forgot the "must do and must see places" . . . way too many to mention and difficult to say without knowing more about you and DH, but the short list for just about anybody would be . . .

The various casinos . . . they're not just for gaming . . . especially Caesars, Bellagio, NYNY, MGM, Venetian and Wynn and their shops

Bellagio Fountains

A view of the strip at night (I prefer from the Eiffel Tower at Paris)

Big Elvis (free lounge show at Bill's Gamblin' Hall)

Peppermill Lounge (old Vegas)

For a first trip, I'd plan to spend most of my time on the Strip. You're wise staying at Center Strip. I'd also pay a visit downtown . . . unless you REALLY like to gamble, a couple of hours will do it there.

Do some research. There's SO much to see and do. You'll have to wade through it all to see what intrigues you most.

How does TI have a better location then the Mirage? assuming Bellagio is center strip the Mirage is closer to the center strip, while TI is more North.

My apologist . . . Diceman is correct . . . my figures moved faster than my brain. Should have said MIRAGE is one property south. Sheesh!

Mirage is higher end, while TI is considered to be more lower end as it is cheaper. Both are renovating- you're pretty much going to decide on what style you like! Both hotels are very convenient- Mirage is closer to the forum Shops at Caesars Palace, while TI is closer to the Fashion Show Mall. Both are convenient to go to Wynn, Palazzo, and the Venetian, in which are worth looking around and taking photos of as their architecture is really nice.

Do take a look at the travelers photos of both hotels and see what you like better.

For me, must dos include the Ethel M Chocolate Factory, M&M's World, World of Coco Cola, Chinatown, Downtown Las Vegas, shopping at the many places, looking around at several hotels, and eating great food. Also try going to an event if there is one planned during your stay.

Also watch a show! Cirque Du Soeil (sp?) have many shows in Las Vegas... and many other shows are available to see as well.
