We'll be staying there for the 3rd time in January.

It's very nice. There are a few pools and the rooms are up to date and decorated nicely.

I agree that you need to rent a car - there are free shuttles to the strip and the grocery store, but I don't like being on other people's schedule. If we happen to drink too much, we leave the car at the casino and take a cab back to the Wyndham.

Do you have any specific questions?

Wyndham Grand Desert - ANYBODY stayed here in 09? I read somewhere that they have construction going on. Also, there are four of us (two couples) and three of us smoke. Is staying there a bad idea? Anybody know about handicapped suites?

We are owners and have stayed there several times this year. We also stay at our other timeshare through Hilton. An off strip timeshare is not a great choice if you need or want the excitment of the lights and the 24 hour action of a casino at your finger tips. Firstimers are often disappointed when they do not stay on the strip.

Wyndham Grand Desert is a typical timeshare resort. Off the strip but with nice suites which are great for people who do not want to take all their meals at restaurants. No casino, only a small store which is over priced, internet costs too much so use the free computer time in the business office, shuttle to and from the strip which ends around midnight, a shuttle that will take you for groceries but there is a charge.

An adult pool and two family pools. Three towers total. Rooms are largest in tower one, the only strip views are in tower two, tower three is only three floors and is the newest and most updated and it has it's own pool.

The have activities, a bar, and onsite massage therapy. They also offer some excursions to shows and other off property locations for a fee.

Rooms for those with disabilities are usually located near the elevators and are slightly oversized. Some offer step in showers rather that the shower/bath option.

Thank you for your reply.

Anybody stayed there that smokes? How difficult is it to get to the smoking area? And how about balconies? Do the rooms have them? I don't think three of us want to go down the hall, down the elevator and then walk all the way outside every 15 minutes! Maybe we should stay someplace else? Please advise - and thanks for your help!

How are the Presidential Suites? Are they accessible?

You must go outside to smoke. A couple in the room next to ours were warned then removed from the grounds for smoking in the room. No balcony on the rooms.

The Presidential suites are nice but not elegant. They are not the same as a top level suite in a strip hotel.

It was a huge hastle to have to go outside near the pool to smoke. The shuttle to Harrahs came pretty regularly however there often was a line to get on them. Planet Hollywood is right down the street within walking distance but it got old walking that far to go to a casino. If you dont own a timeshare stay at a diffrent property. My parents own a timeshare through wyndham but I have never used their property but more than the one time as it is a million times more convenient to just stay on the strip.

Has anyone stayed in the 1 bedroom suite here? Not the deluxe room but the one with the mini kitchen?

We stayed there late July for my birthday last year and I have to say it was a whole lot nicer than I expected. My girlfriend actually reserved it through the owner on ebay and got an excellent deal. The first thing that we noticed was how big and clean the property was and that there were people constantly cleaning especially in the lobby. The unit we had was a two bedroom, but one of the bedrooms had 2 queen size beds. It also had a kitchen, breakfast area, living room, and 2 bathrooms. The pool scene was nice, but we didn't choose to use it that time. They had a small bar that had just recently opened in the lobby, apparently after not having a liquor license for a while. They also had a gift shop and a nice little cafe. The walk to the strip was about 1 1/2 blocks and not bad at all. Not sure how much it has changed since we were there, but I definitely would return. It was a nice alternative to staying in a casino.

I;ve stayed at the Wyndham Grand Desert numerous times the past several years and I've had a positive experience most times.

I think it is so convenient to all stay in a 2 or 3 bedroom suite when traveling with a group. It is also nice to have your own fridge for snacks and beer and mixers.

Also, the fitness center is great. There is a business center where guests can print their boarding passes. The pools are nice. They even had Saturday happy hour with free beer and margaritas for adults last time I was there.

The only problem I have ever had with the property is checking into a room and it smelling like smoke because whomever stayed before did not obey the no smoking rules of the property.

Another inconvenience is getting a taxi on Friday and Saturday night of busy weekends.
