Vegatarian Eating in Las Vegas

I'm vegetarian, i dont eat meat, fish or seafood.

Am going to Las Vegas end of this month and slightly worried about eating arrangements. I know steak and seafood are popular there which leaves me in a bit of a pickle....

Has any other veggies gone to Vegas?

Any where to recommend to eat?

And do the steak places serve anything vegetarian? (or my foor boyfriend will suffer)

Any help would be appreciated :)

has a list of some of the true veg places

although most kitchens will try to accommodate special needs, corss contamination is an issue - usually worse the lower the price, although that's agenerality it's a good one.

some suggest buffets - maybe if you stick to the raw veggies, know that at many buffets cross-contamination is an even bugger issue - s0 dine knowing this.

just like any city, dining with special needs can be done - in LV it's quite easy as long as you research, as you are, and here's the important part - talk to the restaurants you are considering and ask specifics and find out if they are the place for you.

most places have menus online, so check those out. most steak places have a nice assortment of sides - I love a good ole veggie plate, you can do this at most of the restaurants.

you should be just fine in most restaurants. especially higher end restaurants, as the customer service is often better, insuring that your special requests are met.

i would suggest just talking to your server and mentioning that you're vegetarian and ask what they suggest on the menu.

vocalizing your situation to the server, instead of just assuming that the item you choose off the menu is meat-free is the way to go.

when i was vegetarian, i would often order things that seemed vegetarian, like mac & cheese, only to have it served to me and notice it had bacon in it.

a quick mention of "this is vegetarian, right?" will make sure you are taken care of properly.

don't worry too much about it, or restrict your dining options too much. vegetarians are very common in all parts of the world. even a steakhouse will likely have an option for you.

Hi Katie,

I wouldn't worry, my wife is a vegi and it's easy enough. As per the UK there are restaurants with nothing vegi at all on their printed menu, but there are plently of places with really good menus - my wifes favourites are cheesecake factory in the forum shops (right at the very end), the burger bar (mandalay place between mandalay bay and luxor), mon ami gabi (paris) amongst lots of other places.

Don't worry, you'll eat fine!

I'm a vegetarian too and on both occasions, during my trips to Vegas, I found plenty to eat. Granted, there is a smaller choice than in the U.K. (especially in Brighton) but it's ok nonetheless. We mainly at at cheap/middle range places, like the 24 hour cafes in casinos - Caribe Cafe at the Mirage (excellent), The Grand Lux at the Venetian (ditto), the one at Luxor (ok), the only disappointment came at the Hard Rock because they had a technical problem in the kitchen and could only serve a few things. And 'chilly fries' turned out to be fries with chilli con carne NOT chilly sauce :-D

We also really liked the Cheesecake Factory at the Caesar's Forum Mall.

Buffets are another great option and pizza places too. I'm not super-strict so I will eat fish if there is absolutely nothing else (but no shellfish) and the same is for cheese with animal rennet, gelatine etc. I don't know if a vegan would fare that well in Vegas but there are always salads and healthy foods like that.

I'm vegan and have never had a problem eating in Vegas. In fact, there are more places for me to eat out there than here at home! Just talk to your server, but you will usually see a few veggie options on the menu.

Have fun!

If you want upscale dining- try Andre's downtown. I never had their vegetarian entree but everything else there that I have had was superb! It is one of the finest restaurants in Vegas. Look under menus/
