"Summer Mega 09" --Help requested for a Venue

Due to the overwhelming success of last June’s Mega and the wonderful response to the OSVM&G, we are looking to plan a “Summer Mega 09” for next year. In previous threads we have gotten ideas on what works date wise for many of the TA members. The actual date will be revealed during the OSVM&G week! The committee for this M & G will be Chach, Pookie, Cutiepi and myself. (Additional help is always appreciated) The four of us will look at suggested venues while we are in Vegas in December.

Now we are stuck on a picking a Venue. So we are coming to you, TA Members for assist in picking a wonderful venue for your party.

REQUIREMENTS:

VENUE : If our numbers are similar to last June’s we will need a good size venue that will fit 70-100 guests comfortably. It should have a cash bar and with the possible option of ordering finger foods. Preferably located not in the middle of the casino floor, and with seating

LOCATION: Strip or Downtown., which is preferable?

So with all this in mind, what are your suggestions for a Venue? I’m sure many of you have suggestions of where this party could be held. Let’s hear your ideas.

Marge, I'm certainly a Vegas novice, but I have planned several corporate events in the past. I was wondering if the Hilton would be acceptable (nice location?). Typically, hotels such as Hiltons, Sheratons, all the larger corporate type hotels cater to business meetings/functions and typically have "banquet rooms" available for something like the M&G. Of course, I've never been to the Hilton and am speaking with no knowledge of what it's like, but thought I'd throw it out there as a possibility?? There would be a fee for using the banquet room of course, and food costs, but if folks wanted to attend, they would need to pay some sort of registration fee that would cover the costs so that no one individual would be stuck with picking up the tab. Good luck and thank you for trying to get the this started.

I realize that the majority of people attending the Dec events are staying DT, could be because of the OS theme. However, in looking at the list of those in attendance at the '08 Mega, at least 3/4 are those who do not stay DT. Since the winter one is OS and the summer one was not, I'd say wisest choice is to choose a location on the strip.

Check Maggiano's as a possibility, they do have pvt roms and it is in Fashion Show Mall so a good location. See if any of the hotels on strip have a bar that would accomodate a group of that size, a bar that they might consider closing off for a pvt party such as the Peppermill is doing for December.

Hi! I can only think of places like Bahama Breeze and Hofbrauhouse and Tivoli Gardens. Maggianos is not a bad idea. I cannot think of anyplace in a casino not on the floor except for places in CP or ironically, IP.

Any Moose or Elks lodges near the Strip? :)

I know it's nice to try someplace new, but didn't last year's place work well?

Warm, the Pampas cost approximately $900., which all in all was an excellant price for what they gave us. However, it was a special deal given to Spike as he knew the owners.

The Peppermill for the OSVM&G is not costing anything. We will have a cash bar and will be able to order from the menu.

We are hoping to find a location that would be appropriate and very, very low cost up front. We do not want to have to ask for contributions from anyone if possible. We would like to have it in a location that will serve food and will have a cash bar. (Hoping that these will offset the cost of renting a venue)

I have never seen the Peppermill, and we don't want to decide on it prior to seeing it and knowing if it would be large enough for holding possibly a bigger crowd next summer.

That is why we decided to come to the forum to ask for recomendations, as you all know Vegas and know spots that many of us have overlooked. We are asking for TA member's expertise.

We thank you in advance for any and all suggestions (except for Low's IP Buffet suggestion lol)
