TV Alert: Nightline in Vegas

Nightline is scheduled to cover how the economy is affecting Vegas. Mayor Goodman and George Maloof are among those being interviewed.

It's ABC. Check your local listings but its usually after the 10/11PM news.

I'll have to tape it and watch it later. I can't stay up that late anymore unless there is a craps table to lean on.

Good article. I will watch the show on Nightline.

I never have understood what makes the costs on something like City Center go from $4 billion to $11 billion. Someone must have done a lousy job estimating costs to begin with.

What happened back in 2000-2001 when the market took a beating? I guess even though stocks were down, maybe unemployment and therefore travel did not decline as much. I bet that some of the money overspent by the casinos and hotels, and their operating cost increases have increased the break even costs go up significantly. If you think about it, there seems to be a much higher ratio of space allocated to huge shopping malls, check in lobbies, other extravagant areas, compared to gambling space. There did not used to be all of the extra stuff. I can't imagine that these high end stores can sell enough to pay their keep. We never do any serious shopping when in Vegas, and from the looks of the number of people in the stores, not many others do either.
