Sams Town

When we go to Vegas we are spending time Downtown and then on the Strip. Can anyone tell me, is the trip by shuttle bus to Sams Town worthwhile as it seems quite a way from the Strip or Downtown?

I stayed at Sams Town last April and we rented a car, much more convienent and car rentals in Vegas are sooo cheap right now.

I think it's worth it but then again I like to check out new places. If you're going to be downtown anyway, take the shuttle from The California Hotel to Sam's, much shorter trip than from the strip. Sam's has a 2 floor casino plus the Atrium is a pleasant place to hang out for a while. They have lots of VP. I don't care for their buffet though but Jose and Willy's is a very good Mexican restaurant there.

Bill Bob's is also a pretty good steakhouse. I like Sam's Town and it is a nice change from the strip and downtown. The atrium is a great place during Christmastime but also a nice place to sit and relax during any time of the year. The laser show is cute-not worth a trip just to see it but if you are there at the time have a look see. I always have a car but I have used the shuttle to get there but that was before they changed the route.

DH and I took the shuttle to Sam's Town from the California this past November. This shuttle was a comfy full size bus. One way took approx. 25 minutes. You get to relax and gaze out at the scenery.

This was our first time at Sam's Town and I can say this is video poker heaven. I don't think I have ever seen so many v.p. machines. Now I just learned on this forum today that there is a second floor(?)

We didn't know about this and do not know if it is a second floor casino. Someone else may have more input on this.

We stayed at Sam's Town for 3-4 hours and took the shuttle back.

You can pick up a shuttle for Sam's Town from downtown or the strip. They have eliminated the Tropicana stop, however, and only stop at Harrah's and the Riviera on the strip. We go for the laser/fountain show, the well-priced Tuesday night buffet which includes crab legs and roast beef and the excellent video poker. The trip from Harrah's to the strip can take up to 40 minutes due to the stop at the Riviera on the way there. The trip back only takes up about 20-25 minutes because the Harrah's drop off is before Riviera's.
