where to stay - help please

Hi from Norfolk

Am looking through forums for help on accom end aug/beginning sept & have found availability at Plaza, Tropicana, Excalibur, Flamingo, Stratosphere, Palace Station, Sahara & Circus Circus, all quite budget prices. My question is this: we need three beds as we are 2 adults & two teenagers, boy & girl who understandably don't want to share! Which makes it more expensive unless LV hotels/motels/guesthouses do 3 beds to a room - anyone know? If not & we then have to book 2 rooms, are any of the above ok?

Cheers

Of those I would choose Flamingo although the room will be quite small to get another bed to fit and have room.

Look at Orleans off strip. It should be in the same price range. The rooms are large enough for an extra bed or there is a couch in the room too. Also there are more things for the teens to do at Orleans and a shuttle to ride to the strip.

You might have to get a suite or see if they can put a cot in the room.

Pick Tropicana, Excalibur or Flamingo. They are more in the heart of the strip.

Hi Ripley!

Last summer there were some very good deals with www.southpointcasino.com at around $25 per night that came with a coupon book for 2/1 buffets, etc.

Since it looks like location isnt really a factor in your choice, check out the South Point Hotel Casino.

They also have Movies and Bowling that the kids could enjoy and a fairly nice Pool too, I think?

South Point has been receiving excellent hotel reviews in the last few months.

On their website, sign up for email announcements and when they run special prices/packages they will notify you with the promo code to use when making reservations.

The only place I know of off hand that has 3 beds per room is Mandalay Bay 1500X3 suite (it is two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with two queens) - however this may be outside of your budget based on the other places you have referenced. You can check out the rates for the room here - mandalaybay.com/accommodations/goldCollectio…

Because you are coming when it will be very very hot - my advice would be to stay somewhere more centralized on the strip than Stratosphere or Circus Circus (which you will find has pretty much the worst reviews of any property on this forum - I have no idea bc I have never traveled north of Wynn on the strip) - and make sure that your hotel has a pool.

If Mandalay Bay won't suit your budget - Flamingo with two rooms is a really good choice because it is a great location and has a fab pool area (I would strongly suggest this over Tropicana, Strat, CC)

Flamingo is the best of the bunch you've mentioned. I'd eliminate Stratosphere and CC for a number of reasons - Excalibur is a good budget option but it's Strip location isn't as good as the Flamingo - not sure about the others

You need to check the hotel website flamingolasvegas.com for room details. My bet is that you'll be able to get a 3-bed room

Just thought of one other thing - the Venetian and Palazzo both have rooms with 2 queen beds and they all have sofas that pull out into beds (3 total) - they are called the "bella suites" at both properties and may end up being cheaper than going with two rooms at another places with some of the specials floating around - you can check the rates for your dates here

Try the web site www.smartervegas.com for promo codes for hotels. There are codes for The MGM for around $55.00 a night.

The only one I would recommend from your list is the Flamingo it has a great pool area for the teens.

You will probably have to book 2 rooms, please do not book Circus Circus, Sahara, Stratosphere,Tropicana if this is your first trip they will be a big dissapointment.

They are not all that great of a hotel.

The others are downtown and to far from the strip.

Excalibur would be okay.

Have a wonderful trip.

Cross Plaza and Circus Circus off the list. Plaza not on the strip and circus circus is just plain awful. Sahara is an alright hotel but it's location is not good for sight seeing. I suggest you add Luxor to your list. It is a property that may fit your budget needs.

Also www.vrbo.com for a rental at MGM Signature, it will give you more room.

As you have teens and are coming at the hottest time of the year, be sure the property has a good pool.

Best pools for them will be Mandalay Bay and MGM.

You will be able to find a room with 2 dbl beds and than for a fee you can put in a rollaway. Know that you will be very crowded.

Note that Aug/September rates/specials will not be up/posted until late spring.

Been a couple of Years since we stayed at MGM Grand, but the Bungalow Suite we had was very generous in size (nice layout - felt spacious). It does have 2 Queen beds, and a full size sofa in the living space area, the bath/shower area was very large in comparison to alot of other Strip properties.

As another poster said, keep watching for lower rates, as the Summer Months are the cheapest unless its a major holiday weekend. Closer to summer You will see specials. Sign up for email promos!

good reminder about signing up for the emails - also check out this site closer to your travel dates (and keep in mind that if you book now directly with your hotel, which is the best way usually, you can always alter your rates if you find specials or lower rates later without any hassle)
