Trip Report~ Paris ~ 8/22- 8/27

Arrived in Vegas monday 8/22~ flight uneventful and on time which is a good thing.

Arrived at Paris Hotel around 9:30 am. We have stayed at Paris/Bally's for the last 9 yrs or so. This is the first time that the treatment there was not up to par ~ at least on check in. We arrived and went to the invited guest's line . A girl started to check us in and told us that no rooms were available at this time but would be in a few hours. I told her that would be fine but we would like a room with a view. She told us that it wasn't noted in the computer for any upgrades . I started to tell her that we've been coming to paris/bally's for 9 or 10 yrs and she interrupted me to tell me that she wasn't really interested and sent us to the VIP lounge. We go into the vip lounge and the girl there has no idea why we were sent there so she marches us back to where we were before. I did inform her of the treatment of the girl that started to check us in. Didn't really seem concerned. Anyways ~ we get checked in on the 28th floor with a back view and next to the service room which meant slamming doors all morning. We really are not in our room much but i felt that the treatment should have been better for all the years going there.

The first day we basically stayed in paris/bally's and gambled. I started off well on the quarter poker machines and hit 4 4's with a 2 kicker which paid $200. We were up and down all day there.

Second day we ate a late lunch at Aladdin's buffet. That was the first time that we ever ate there and it was well worth it. I highly recommend it . The food was excellant~ price was good and the service was great. We definately will eat there again.

Gambling on the second day I held my own. Not really winning big but not losing big either. Mostly playing on the casino's money.

The third day my husband won a royal flush at Bally's on the joker's wild quarter machine! He hit for $1,230.00. That made his and my day.

We ate at paris lunch buffet which was also excellent. It always is though. The service was excellent also.

On Thursday we took the shuttle out to the Orlean's. Found a vp machine with a jackpot over $1,653.00. We sat down to play that. The place was packed so i couldn't switch machines like i usually do. Played about a half hour and i held 3 to the royal. Hit draw and up came the two i needed so i hit the royal flush for $1,653.00!!!!!!

On friday we went to the Luxor to see how their machines were doing. The VP jackpot there was $1,973.00. We played that for over an hour. I couldn't hit anything. I kept switching machines . Then i was dealt 4 to the royal in the heart suit. I said a little prayer and up came the 10 of hearts so i hit the royal there too!!! We were on a roll!!

We went to the tropicana and saw the Titanic exhibit. I've always been interested in the Titanic so that was very interesting to me.

Saturday our flight was leaving at 5:30 pm so we only had a half day to gamble and we gave it our all. Lost some money that day. I couldn't seem to hit much at all and either could my husband. We still came home with more money than we left with so that's always a good thing.

We talked to our casino host at Paris/ Bally's and got the distinct impression that comps are harder to get now more than ever. They did comp us 3 nights for sure at paris and $100 in food and also gave us $100 in free slots but as for the last 2 nights were still not sure if it was comped or not. Our slot host said he would do what he could for us but it didn't sound as convincing as i wanted it to be.

Next year we think were going to take our 3 nights free at paris and then maybe take luxor or aladdin's up on their offer's that they send us through the mail for rooms for $59.00

All in all we had a great time and i'm typing this at work and it's hard to get back in the groove again.

Forgot to add that we also went to the new Wynn casino. I wasn't all that impressed. Just didn't get that good gambling feeling there. We actually walked from Paris to the wynn's but we stopped constantly to visit the casino's on the way so it didn't feel as far as it was. We played a little bit at Wynn's but it just didn't feel right so we moved on and worked our way back to Paris.

At casino royale they had coupons for new players that signed up so we signed up for a card there. We got margurita's for 2 for a $1.00 and also coupons if we played VP there. If you hit any 4 of a kind they would pay that jp plus pay you $25 more. I put in one twenty and it did nothing. Put in my second 20 and up came 4 2's along with an ace which paid $200 plus they paid me $25 for my coupon.

I'll probably think of more later~ i'm still tired lol.

That's some good luck.

Maybe Paris wasn't as nice this time around because they are tired of you and your husband hitting Royal Flushes and taking all of their money. :)

Jan,

It sounds like you had a good time, even though the Paris didn't come through for you on the accomodations and service. I'm interested in playing VP for the first time when I go out there this weekend. If I can have the kind of luck you did, then I'm sure I'll enjoy it!! Did you use the same Casino Host that you had always used in the past? I would think your history there would help get you the extras that you wanted. Anyway, I'm glad you came back a winner. One last question...Do you play at the airport, and if so, do you ever have any luck there?

janpo - I have been going to Ballys/Paris for years also, and I have never encountered a problem at check-in. Hindsight being 20/20 you should have just asked for the manager at that time since she wasn't being helpful. I don't think they are able to guarantee a room with a view especially if it's busy, but it never hurts to ask.

Comps have gotten tighter at Paris/Ballys. You casino host should be able to tell you what level you need to be gambling at to have comped rooms etc. We were there for four days and our rooms were comped each day. We play mostly table games, and usually a minimum of $25 per hand, if not more. I think we gambel a minimum of 6 hours per day at Paris also.

All thing considered it sounded like a great trip, and you had a few good wins on the slot machines:-)

We never gamble at the airport. Just never had the urge. I've seen people that do but i've never stuck around enough to see if they won anything. I don't know for sure but i would think the odds are much worse there than on the strip.

We've been playing video poker for years out there. The money seems to last a "little" longer than the slots. Especially if you hit 4 of a kind right off the bat and can play on their money instead of yours lol.

The casino host we have now is the same one we've had for a couple of years. We've had 3 casino hosts so far. The other two had moved on to other casino's. As of friday afternoon we had 52 hours of play at paris/bally's. We were there until saturday afternoon so those hours even went up more before we had to leave. 4 hours a day is what i was told when i called to get comped for the rooms. Your right~ i should have contacted the manager right there and then about the check in girl but it had never happened before and it took me a little off guard. Paris had always been more than accomidating to us. In fact up until last year we always used to get comped for the P rooms. I haven't received my bill yet so I won't know if they charged us for the rooms until my charge card bill comes. I will be disappointed if they do charge us for the two nights especially with the amount of play we do there. I was under the understanding it's the amount of play not the winning or losing that counts. This year we did well out there. Would that make a difference in the way the count the comps?

We got exactly the same feeling from Wynn. We were supposed to have dinner there, walked up from Caesars played for a bit and left. I'll never stay there. Really thought it was a copy cat of the Bellagio without the class. That's not a comment on the rooms, just the Casino.

jan - I hope your other nights are comped!

I really like the Paris hotel and I think that you encountered the wrong person at check-in. If you remember their name, write a letter. Not to get the person in trouble, but it appears they need to do some training in the customer service area with the person. Even if she can't give you what you are looking for, there is a professional way to handle the situation.

Take care,

Susan

What's this about a jackpot on VP? Is this something different? I thought VP just had pay tables.

some video poker slots have a "progressive" win. but they pay way less on small wins.

Yes, they were all progressive machines that my husband and i hit on. The payouts are less on the other winnings though like full house, etc. We always look for the progressive VP because of the higher jp's.

thanks!
