North or South Strip?

Hi all,

I`m a couple of days away from booking a week in Las Vegas in May and would appreciate some help weighing up wether to stay at the N or S end of the Strip.

Hotels are coming up alot cheaper (EG Circus Circus, Strat, Sahara), but with the Monorail is it actually a better deal than paying to stay down nearer the MGM/NY NY etc? Basically what I am asking is is it worth paying around $200 more (for a couple for 6 nights) for the convenience of being down South?

I plan to spend the majority of my time in the Casino`s the whole length of the Strip so thats not an issue.

Thankyou

North of the strip in the area of Circus Circus/Strat/Sahara is wayyyyyyyyyyy north. Would not suggest walking that area at night. Spend the dough and stay in a more central location. With the hotel deals being offered nowadays, plus the cost of any taxis you have to take if you stay up north, you'll love the convenience of being the mix of things mid-strip.

hey 02,

I would suggest staying at the south end for the extra $200. The hotels are much newer, bigger, closer to each other and the building themes are outstanding. Last year we took the kids to the circus, this year were stepping up to the mandalay bay. Have fun!

Let me make this perfectly clear. Location is not the only reason these hotels are cheaper. In the case of Strat, CC, Riviera, and Sahara you very much get what you are paying for.

One of the really great things about LV is that the price difference between the bottom tier hotels and the next level is usually often just $10-$15 per night. I strongly recommend you look around and spend the few exta dollars to provide yourselves with a better all around experiance. If the difference at MGM is too great, I suggest checking Ballys, Harrahs, Monte Carlo, Luxor or even IP.

I could never stay at Circus Circus or the Sahara.

Other than one evening trip (long ago) to see the top of the Stratosphere, I know nothing of the hotel.

I prefer to stay south of Flamingo Road.

I stayed once at the Strat and that was enough for me.

I love staying midstrip and yes would even consider Imperial Palace over the Strat. Maybe even opposed to staying on the south strip.

Since you did not mention mid.... I for sure would take South strip!

I am sure you will have a good time whatever you pick and good luck!

I would recommend mid strip as well. Harrahs, IP or Flamingo. You can then take one day to go south and another north to find where you like to gamble or play.

Last time I stayed at TI and that was as north as I go. Mandalay Bay is as south as I go, for as little as I am in the room this year I am choosing Flamingo. I will be there in May to try out the pool, which looks great IMO.

Good luck.

Mirage has a great central location. I got a good price for 6 night in May $450 using the volcano promo code.

Just say no to the far North Strip. You'll find room for about the same price at places like Excalibur and Hooters - which are in better locations.
