HOT FLASHES-and not the weather!

Hi everyone, I know this is going to be a rather strange topic, but I've noticed a lot of travelers here are going to Vegas for the first time, ahh, I remember that day! You're wondering where to stay, where to gamble and what to take clothes wise.

Vegas can be studidly hot in the Summer and freezing in the Winter but one constant is the casino floor areas. If you are a women "of a certain age" :) please be aware that the heat of the slot machines can set off hot flashes, no kidding!

When I started having "my own personal Summers" I noted that 73 degrees would do it. Sitting in front of the Slots was miserable especially when I was winning and my heart rate went up anyway, LOL! So now you just need to sit back a ways and take advantage of the Comp drinks, it will be OK.

If you don't like heat wear light clothes inside and you'll be OK.

(I told you this would be a strange topic, but hope it helps some of you. Have a wonderful time.$$$)

Happy Travels!

Bless you for a much needed post.

Another tip in the very changing temperatures - outdoors and internally is to wear something light under a sweater - that way you have the best of both words during a hot flash and can peel away the layers as needed.

Oh the wonders of life! Your post is very much appreciate it!

TravelRocker: I'll make this post a little stranger. You like to play slots. Have I got a machine for you!

It's at Wynn and it's called HOT FLASHES. And yes, it's about what you think, lol. You are absolutely going to love the bonus rounds. There is only 1 machine. It is to the right of the center aisle near the rear of the casino, just before the Blackjack tables. It is a nickle machine. Have fun.

so silly

this is NOT RUE for all women - obviously for you it was, it certainly is not for all.

I never had to dress any differently for LV that I did for any other locale, and doubt others did. If you're having hot flashes it doesn't matter where you are - they're miserable. To imply that sitting in front of a slot machine sets them off is pure bunk.

This is not a "silly" post as it affects all women.. I would recommend getting a Hormone testing eg. saliva testing, most women will find they are progesterone deficient... I too experienced hot flashes until I got tested and now I am extremely happy.

Does this really need to be discussed on a travel forum, please?

Gotovegas, Discussing a real life experience for “women of a certain age” that are contemplating visiting Vegas is very helpful.

True not all women “experience” it as it effects different women in different ways - some never experience a single symptom but then some others are so miserable that they decide to control their “own summers” via medications (such as jdmss suggested) - my choice - if it’s not life disturbing is to go the natural way (including supplementation) and ride it out - it all depends on the massive degree it plays a role in your life.

We ALL want to enjoy Vegas in everyway and not have to worry. Planning ahead in order to make your Vegas experience as pleasant as it should be really takes some thought beforehand in this case.

Another tip: A hand heald fan of some sort be it a makeshift hard covered booklet will help ease the moments of intensity as the pass.

Everything else is discussed here why not this? And the title alone tells you who the discussion is for!

I get hot/ cold in the casinos. I usually wear short sleeves and carry a sweater.

But then again in Vegas I'm usually so lubricated and in my happy place that nothing bothers me.

If you get a chance, head to the Hilton and see "menopause the musical". My husband and I laughed our heads off. We got our tickets at the 1/2 price booth.
