Does Bill's accept Barbary Coast chips?

So, I'm packing now to leave tomorrow and in going through my junk drawer looking for matches I found some old Barbary Coast chips. Would I be the cheapest man alive if I tried to use these at Bill's or should I just keep them as mementos? Thanks.

I suggest putting them on E-bay, chip collectors pay a premium for obsolete chips.

Yeah, they probably wouldn't accept them. I forget the law but there's I think they only need to accept them for 30 or 60 days after a switch over.

Maybe you could use them to tip the cocktail waitresses. Now, that would be the cheapest man alive.

why not ask Bill's?

bring them - in case they will are honored. I don't know the exact advertised date to redeem the checks 9technically they aren't chips-they are checks or checques)

What do you have to lose by bringing them with you?Why do you think anyone here knows more than the cage at Bill's?

Actually, people ask questions here because it's easy and more fun, particularly when folks have interesting stories to tell. And because it can be like pulling teeth to get a straight answer out of casino, particularly HET casinos.

Now, as far as Barbary v. Bills... www.secinfo.com tells us that with the change in ownership (Boyd -> Harrah's) the old owners were required to destroy all "chips, tokens and plaquemines" as of the closing date and the new owners were required to redeem any outstanding "chips, tokens and plaquemines" for 120 days after closing.

So the answer is - put 'em on eBay!

An amusing point - many people (including a number of well known authors who should know better) think the "real" name for what most people call "chips" is "cheques" (or some other similar term). In fact, "cheque" is merely a convention some in the industry use to distinguish denominated tokens from undenominated tokens like those used in roulette. In legal documents (like the Barbary Coast sale contract) and on documents published by the NGCB (http://gaming.nv.gov/chip_token_rpt.htm) they are always referred to as "chips".
