If you're flying out of IND to LAS on Tuesday, the flights are not "booked solid", all of the flights out that day are still open.

Keep in mind that airlines have reduced flight capacity in the past year. The official statistics are reflecting a big decrease in hotel occupancy and passenger traffic at McCarran.

Picking one flight for you and "sis" is not really a scientific method of determining how things are going.

Bad enough for me to get airline tickets in June for $221 a piece and for Harrahs to give me 4 nights at the Paris hotel for free....

I think it's pretty bad....

I think what may really be happening is that airlines are no longer willing to fly a plane anywhere half full- so as dates approach any flight not very full is cancelled and those passengers are notified that their flight has "been changed" -generally combined with another one. This has happened to us with three flights we took this year- for it to happen to us at all in the past was extremely rare.

I suspect if you looked at a daily schedule there are less flights going out from most airports- the ones that are leaving have more passengers.

I believe the official report for LAS made in January said their passenger traffic was 16% less than last year.

You've got that bad. Some people just don't get it. Most every city is offering less flights to Vegas because the CANNOT fill the flights, hence more flights are packed. This is pretty much "no brainer" knowledge for normal people. I am in Vegas right now checking my emails and leaving a review for Hooters Hotel and Casino. Let me just say this, those of you considering this hotel, believe the negative reviews you are finding all over the internet. While my room is very clean, the bathroom sink hardly drains, you have to hold the toilet handle for a good 10 seconds to get it to flush. If someone farts in the hallway you can hear it in your room. I unfortunately am here on the 16th floor where many of the rooms have been filled up with 20 something's on spring break who cannot handle their booze, are rude and very loud going from room to room all through the night. You know, the 20 somethings of todays society who had terrible parents and taught them no manners. I'm sure the low budget casino's that get all these punks really really appreciate them because they just cause a lot of problems as one of the security gaurds told me while I was riding in the elevator with him. Since my wife did not come with me and I was simply here to bet on some basketball games I stayed cheap. Which leads me to the final and old as dirt expression,,,,,"you get what you pay for" A really BIG disapointment!!!

Flights out of Indy to vegas is pretty huge. US Airways has a bunch, Northwest has a few, AT has a number of flights as does Frontier. I have not seen from Indy's standpoint a huge drop in the number of flights out. As for the hotels, I am paying about the same I have always paid on my other visits and rental car rates are through the roof. Reviews I have read are still saying people are going, just not spending what they did in other visits, which goes for me this time, only taking about $750 with me for 5 days....

I was in LV in January and just came back yesterday. All I'm going to say is that you will notice a big difference compared to pre Oct 2008. Especially the cocktail service.

Station Casino are having financial difficulty, they might have to file for bankruptcy protection on April 15. While MGM, HET, and Wynn are reporting quarterly loses. While some flights might be booked solid, it doesn’t really mean anything if the people who goes to LV don’t gamble, and spend money.

Las Vegas is hurting because they really depend on those Conventions and all that Corporate money. When people visit Las Vegas on the Corporate "dime" they spend money way more money than when they travel there on their own "dime".

Pretty sure Wynn was crying when Wells Fargo cancelled their Vegas trip last February.

By the way, you can't do "cow tipping" in Las Vegas (just kidding, lol)

I get what you are saying Indy....the last 2 trips I took to Vegas the flights were totally full! They even had to bump 3 people from the return flight this last time.

I am PO'd at USAirways because now that I have enough FF miles to get a free flight, they quit flying NS from Columbus!

I stayed at Mandalay Bay in Feb and could see the airport, and there was a flight coming in and going out just about every minute of the day! BUT...the casino at MB was virtually empty! There seemed to be a lot of people in the common areas, but apparently people aren't gambling as much!

The numbers reflect that gambling is down, my thought is that people are still going, just not spending like they did in the past. This will be my longest visit to date next week, but I have the smallest budget this time on spending.

As if a full flight was an indication of the overall economic situation! You need to become more informed.

The economy is bad, very much so. Apparently you know what flights are full but are ill-informed about the economy - hard to understand given that the economy is a top subject in all media outlets. It won't take too long doing some reading for you to find out how bad the economy is.

One reason some flights are full is that the airlines have reduced flights. Easy to find that out when you do your reading on th economy.

Right now travel deals abound, LV is a top destination for bargain hunters.
