What's going on 1st wknd in October?

I'm debating buying tickets for Kylie Minogue's show at the Palms for 10/3 but the room prices are pretty high for that weekend.

The convention calendar doesn't seem to show anything big:

If you're just looking at the Palms it looks like they're just a bit higher than the usual weekend rates - perhaps to snag unwary concert goers.

I suspect both the Gold Coast and Rio will be quite a bit cheaper and both are within easy walking distance.

There are a few decent size conventions that weekend:

American Composites Manufacturers Association 2009 - 5,000

International Vision Expo West 2009 - 14,500

Along with a few that are under 1,000 people

Thanks for the info. I actually checked other hotels first and am not really considering the Palms, but the prices were higher everywhere I looked just for that weekend in Oct.
